What'd you expect? I go to the movies often and have yet to see a preview in the theater or even a spot on TV. Theaters seem to recognize this as well, my theater only had like 4 showtimes for it 😬

Wow... all this bad press may actually force me to go and see this. Anything this bad surely can't be missed!

this will most likely make a little over $6 million

as this has made the bulk of its money overseas it may make back the negative cost

BruceSkywalker, what did you think? Was it REALLY that bad?

Well 50 million is only the production cost that's not counting money spent on marketing and distribution and that can range in the 10s of millions, plus studios don't get back the full box office anyways.

I doubt Fox spent much to promote this.. If this does make it to the negative cost then fox will be happy

i went to the movies last night intending to go see this movie. but when i got to the cineplex, this movie was p laying on the smallest screen. i ended up seeing observe and report. way worth the money..

Oh, come on now. I used to watch it years and years ago and I'll admit, I enjoyed it then. Looking back now, the stories were predictable and and the dialogue was horrible. The fighting, well that was shit too for the most part.

You'd have a good 7-8 episodes of nonsense leading up to the fight and then all you'd see is a bunch of squiggly lines (used to depict the uber-speeds) spotted in with stills of someone getting hit here and there.

Vegeta will always be my hero though.

Isn't this supposed to be a reimagination of regular Dragon Ball (when Goku was growing up and used to fly around on his nimbus). No Vegeta yet. It's supposed to be based on the Chinese story of the monkey king (think The Forbidden Kingdom, which was another let down).

This movie sucked and for it to be based on young Goku it got a LOT about his life and the characters blatantly wrong and overall it was pointless. I hated it.

Its as if they didn't even bother trying to be faithful.

Making Goku Caucasian was the biggest let down for me. What on earth did that achieve. You can't look at him and even for one second believe he is Goku.

i guess there will be no hope for a sequel then

but in all fairness, what we really need is a review from someone who's never heard of the Dragonball franchise before, so that we can get an opinion without it being compared to the original story

who knows, maybe it was a pretty good film for the non-fan

well, hearing that there was going to be a live action movie, I thought it was pretty cool. Of course that was when i was like... 10 I'm 17. ALmost 18. Just by seeing the commercials, I was not excited to even think about seeing this movie. Now I want to go see it and make fun of it the entire time in the theatre.

Considering he is not even Asian in the anime, why? 😐

Also, the movie was bad all round...But Yamcha was by far the worst.

He never said that Goku was supposed to be Asian, dude. 313

Forbidden Kingdom was actually not bad. Even the nerdy non-asian protagonidt became more badass than Chatwin's portrayal of Goku by the end, and he was only in two one-on-one fight scenes.
