He's Stark's top nemesis. You know it has to happen.

I would like to see how they redefine the Mandarin for modern times, though. He can't be a Chinese stereotype.

Yeah, I understand that he's a classic Iron Man enemy, but I've just never liked the character and he doesn't seem like he'd translate well to film. I, too, hope they redefine him for the movie and make it work. I have faith they'll do a good job... maybe. Also, I read that Don Cheadle will be replacing Terrence Howard in the sequel.

Ya know, I think someone from Paramount has put out that story about Cheadle replacing Howard to gauge fan interest and reaction

I still don't know what to make of this Don Cheadle story.
Terrence Howard was hugely enthusiastic to be in IM, and looking forward to his turn in the next film playing War Machine. I assume he was signed for sequels like Downey & Paltrow was - what could have gone wrong? 😕

As far as Cheadle goes - I don't know. He's a very good actor, but is he right? I have pictures of What If? Dustin Hoffman in his prime had been cast as Tony Stark; a great actor, sure. But not right for the part.
I can't see Cheadle as Rhodey.

I cannot picture Cheadle in a comic book movie

Iron Man 2

Don Cheadle will replace Terrence Howard in Iron Man 2, coming May 2010. Apparently, Howard was asking for more money and the studio axed him.

I'm glad, Cheadle is a better actor, imo, and Howard didn't impress me at all in Iron Man.

Will War Machine be making his debut?

I agree. Howard, although a decent actor, just didn't feel right as Rhodey, in my opinion.

He will, but not sure how large of a part. I'm hoping it's only a minor show of War Machine in number two and they wait until part three to really bring him into the franchise.

If I was writing/directing, I'd have him come in only at the end during the final battle with the villain (as that's the format these movies follow).

Not sure who the villain(s) will be, hoping it isn't Mandarin, never liked the "magic" theme of his.

Really? I thought that he was an incredible James Rhodes. I'm so pissed that he's not coming back. Maybe it's a misunderstanding that will be fixed.

I read a few days ago the director actually saying Howard would be back in the role... and it's going to be in 3D if possible.

For now, I will go with what the director is saying over imdb.

This is recent and IMDB isn't the only source saying Howard was given the boot over money concerns, if you Google 'Don Cheadle Iron Man 2' you'll see many hits claiming the same thing.

But sure, filming is some time off and things can change.

Apparently Marvel fracked over Howard...

In my opinion Howard was good...

There has been nothing concrete as to whether War Machine will be in Iron Man 2...

All Marvel will say(if it is them actually speaking) that they are taking the character of James "Rhodey" Rhodes in a new direction

ugh

I saw it on the news today and a very bad move on their part...

That story is more than a month old, and came out before the Howard thing. Does news take that long reaching Oz? 😛

Here's some fresh news: Downey has signed not just for two more IM films, but for the Avengers!

That's great news. Now if they could sign Norton for that too, officially. And can they please announce the casting of Thor and Captain America also?

I look forward to seeing Iron Man 2

Should be another good story and good cgi

It is 😑

i've only just seen it on superherohype yesterday .

I'm kind of nervous about seeing this now that Howard has been replaced as Rhodes, a role I'm positive he'd have fulfilled perfectly. More than likely the problem was that Marvel Studios couldn't afford him but man...what a great loss of talent. I guess I'll still see this movie...unless they replace Robert Downey Jr. too. 🙄

howard should've stayed on. i can't see cheadle as war machine.. too old for my taste..
