Mickey Rourke Not Doing Iron Man 2?
Source:New York Magazine February 18, 2009
Mickey Rourke has told New York Magazine that it's looking like he won't be playing the villain in Iron Man 2:
But so what if ICM's David Unger doesn't look good in a dress — at least he's battling Marvel for a bigger paycheck for Rourke for his rumored role as a villain in Iron Man 2, right? "Right now, we're not doing Iron Man 2," Rourke told us grimly.
In January, the news broke that Marvel had offered the award-winning "Wrestler" star just $250,000 to play a villain in the sequel. Perhaps further negotiations didn't go so well? Also, Rourke is now firmly attached to star in Sylvester Stallone's The Expendables, which starts shooting shortly and might interfere with the Iron Man 2 shoot.
Stay tuned for possibly more on this...

I hope this a smokescreen and he has signed on, but if not then Marvel should go f^ck themselves and stop missing up potential hits

I like the Wrestler as much as the next movie buff, but Rourke's performance (which was great) doesn't necessarily translated over into other films... I mean... he essentially played himself if he was a washed-up has been wrestler instead of a washed-up has been actor. I really don't think his performance in The Wrestler was enough to warrant the staggering amount of film offers he has now, and I can certainly understand Marvel not wanting to pay out of their ass to get him.

He was perfect as Marv.
Yeah his performance as Marv was a complete tour de force, I was moved practically to tears by the shear brilliance of his portrayal! It defiantly wasn't a performance that was completely interchangeable with those given by wrestlers trying to act in B movie actions romps, that's for sure. 😱

Everyones opinion is different but sometimes its the same.

I haven't seen his movies but I've only heard good things about Rourke, so I really hope he decides to jump aboard this project.
Btw, I know it's been said a million times but I hate that Howard got replaced and it was over some bullshit (them offering him money they couldn't really pay). However, I'm still largely looking forward to the movie.
