How about the a in father, aha/ Like barth, but without actually pronouncing the R.

Still different pronunciation in different regions. But yeah, I say 'bath' like I say 'father'. The same for most of those types of words, like 'grass' etc.

I hate to point out the obvious but they are two different word with two different meanings so for me this is a little confusing.
