I think you'd probably need a boat to get to any of the really good waves, probably need to be towed onto them, as well.

Forecasters warn that because of Ike's size and the shallow Texas coastal waters, it could produce waves of perhaps 50 feet. It could also dump 10 inches or more of rain.

If I go out I will take my short board which if I remember correctly is a 6.1 ft Rusty.
