Amen, Jbill. James Spader is one of the greatest actors on television, and it is a superfriggin' joke that BL is being cancelled.
Null Arc, you really need to watch Boston Legal if you don't already. It addresses more issues than any other primetime television show, and does it with style. Spader's Alan Shore is a smarmy, arrogant, and oftentimes unethical attorney, but he is the master of oratory.

Second, both of them are disturbingly unethical.

That's where the similarities end. Outside of that, Shore gets laid by every hottie who has ever graced or guest starred on that show and his oratory is above and beyond the embittered rantings of Dr. House.

That said, Denny Crane could probably solo the planet. That man is badass. In particular, the scene where he pulls out a gun and, from his chair, shoots the guy about to kill Spader's character, is awesome.
While I prefer Shore to House, it's a toss up between Wilson or Denny.
House is funnier. And he has a cane.
And Shore losing his virginity to his mom's friend at fourteen and then later getting treated for a attraction to his mother (correct?) makes him a freak. House is a drug addict, not Oedipal.
Granted, I've never actually watched Boston Legal, and my only exposure to Shore has been through a clip on YouTube, but I'm hopelessly biased here.

Sort've. One of the recurring themes throughout the series is that Alan Shore seems incapable of loving a woman; merely using them for sex. The gentleness in which his mother handled him growing up made him secretly crave that from another woman; not her lol.

Seriously, man, you might not learn to love it as much as I do, but it's -- in many ways -- more controversial and daring than House would ever be. James Spader is a remarkably charismatic speaker and a talented actor, his character being as complex as House. Arguably moreso.
