The guy was OBVIOUSLY trying to impress people with his erudition. The problem is that I'm astute enough to immediately spot when I'm being bombarded by calculated pedantry. Any halfwit with a Word-of-the-Day calendar can build a vocabulary sufficient to fabricate a facade of intelligence. More telling than his vocabulary, though, is the quickness with which our buddy spetz saw fit to back out of our discussion on the many flaws with his argument and retreat to more solid ground.

Because people using poor grammar and inaccurate spelling is quite the eyesore on a message board, not to mention the fact that it does indeed betray one's own intelligence by making them seem far less educated than they may actually be.

Well i could care less about grammer on these boards, if this was a grammer debating forum fine, i dont bother to judge a poster on these boards from there grammer, i am not that conceided to worry about how the boards look, there are children and adults here, to worry about grammer because of how it reflects on the boards is covering up an elitest attitude
I type from work mostly, and i write part time(can you beleive it..editors do wonders), i dont give one iotta if someone does not like my short posts or grammer mistakes and to think i would care what strangers think of me is absurd
But i think everyone is entitled to their opinon, so no hard feelings, i just consider it trolling or worse to argue about it when i am intereseted in a thread and have to shift thru garbage about spelling and use of words
