I think that would be labelled as schizophrenia.

Lycanthropy is interpreted by the authors as a delusion in the sense of the self-identity disorder defined by Scharfetter. It is mainly found in affective and schizophrenic disorders but can be a symptom of other psychiatric disorders as well. Psychodynamically this kind of delusion can be interpreted as an attempt to project suppressed affects, especially with aggressive or sexual content, into the figure of an animal. Psychotherapy and/or neuroleptic medication can be effective.

Funny thing is most people don't think they're turning into wolves.

So if I **** a woman doggy-style while biting onto the nape of her neck, I could be a mental-werewolf? Sweet!

Doesn't that just make you a cannibal? 😄

Only if you actually thought you were one. A lot of people that hold lycanthropic delusions report feeling as though they're physically changing into something different.

Isn't that sort of impossible? As the bone density and such grows and changes, couldn't that person die whilst in transformation if said event were to happen?

Are you serious?

I'm asking a question, as I didn't know the answer.

Physically? Yes.

The delusions has no real effect on ones physical form. Specific parts of the brain are involved in proprioception and body image have been seen to activate in people who think they are turning into another creature.

Yes, I meant physically, and thanks for answering my question. I figured that in this stage of human evolution or whatever, it'd sort of be impossible to change from a 5 or 6 foot man, to a 7 or 8 foot beast.

Btw, regarding the whole werewolves thing, some people are just so susceptible. This guy on another forum said that a friend of his had a brother/friend who said he was scratched by a wolf recently. So, one night they're out camping, and he says his chest is burning, and soon he begins to throw up. He looks up at the moon, and laughs, and his chest continues burning as he is throwing up. The guy goes on to say that by the time he gets to the hospital, he's dead, and this guy believes he died in mid transformation, and people believed him. It's called rabies, lol. What kind of idiot gets scratched by a wolf deep, and goes out camping?

I don't think an any of the stages of human evolution, from say Australopithecus to Cro-Magnon, "we" were ever able to shape-shift.

Rabies takes months to kill you.

Atlantean bio-mages could do it with their enhanced superbrains.

I know, which proves even further that he was lying. He had a ton of stories, and I could tell every one of them was a lie. For every page there was a new story. This other guy says he saw a werewolf pop up at his window, and he fainted, and awoke the next morning. C'mon, werewolves are meat eating beasts, why would it spare you? 🙄

As for the shape-shifting, it could be possible FAR into the future, but for the time being, we just have to deal with occasional crazies who believe they are mythological beasts.

Yeah, they all sank though.

It's also possible that in the future people will be able to suck other people into their anuses; I wouldn't bet on it though.

Well, I don't know about you, but I don't have to deal with them at all. I have never met anyone who thinks they are a werewolf, or any other mythological creature, I very much doubt I ever will.

What about that bloke that calls everyone Jimmy? Or that other dude who has molested several of your friends? Maybe?

Jimmy (as I like to call him) is just Scottish, a disability in its own right.

I haven't seen Hugo the homo in a while, hopefully I won't again.

A notable flaw of possessing giant superbrains.

Guess they weren't that smart after all, eh? Pompous bastards deserved what they got, if you ask me.

You know, I think he is. I really, really think he is.
