Mirrors Edge

i rented the game on gamefly and it came today. i got to level... five i think?

anyway ive had my fill. the parkhour running around is fun but the buggy controls irritate me. i jumped off of a ledge aiming toward one of the glowing red poles.. and she literally bounced off of the glowing pole. she just... refused to grab it. ive spent over an hour dealing with various little things involving her clearly being range but not even trying to grab it. and dont even get me started on the poor combat system...

blah great concept and imaginative ideas, very poor execution. im going to mail this back tomorrow and get call of duty world at war. thank god for formulaic games... games you know are going to be solid before you even play them.. ._.

Shame.

yeah it is because it has a great premise. easily one of the more imaginative games out there. im definitely glad i played it just to know that i did but yeah the execution of the finer details was poor.

Maybe you just suck at video games 😛

I'm just kidding. I know that quite a few people had gripes with the controls. I never understood why though. You really only need to use two buttons through out the entire game, unless you're going to disarm someone then you need to use three.

Bad controls don't necessary mean too many buttons.

It usually means how the character controls and responsiveness. Look at the old NES games. Why was Mario so good? Controls were impeccable.

I think Mario was so good because of it's simplicity and level design.

I look at control responsiveness being apart of game play. I look at controls as being button layout and character actions. I guess that's splitting hairs though. Either way, the responsiveness for Mirrors edge was perfect, i thought. There was no delay or slow down. I thought the controls were simple and intuitive. The only thing i can see that would need some getting used to is the wall jump and mid air turn. The character reacts to all of the button commands exactly how she is meant to upon pressing.

Never had a problem with the control setup in Mirror's Edge.
