Yeah his commercials were/are for an insurance firm.

His angle was breaking the fourth wall by attempting to calm down the party who have just befallen the accident with: "Calm down dear....Its just a commerciallllllllllllllllllllll" the injured/aggreived party typically then cheers up, stops acting and goofs off to camera... weird stuff indeed from the maker of Death Wish.

They should definetely have gotten in a CGI Charlie Bronson to shoot someone through the head 8 times, only for winner to walk in and reassure the very real corpse that it was just a commercial.
