I watched a bit... it looks magnificent.

The same with 2001 BTW, for us oldies. I've never seen it like that. And I like to think the only one who ever saw it that crisp, must have been Kubrick himself.

I will upgrade this year, I swear. Til then its upscaled dvd for me til then. It smoothens things/makes thing better defined, crisper but the smaller details that you are treated to aren't there.
Plus I presume you can watch in the full 1080p, whereas I am stuck at 1080i at present. 🙁

Well if 2001 looks that good, then I bet 2010 looks amazing.
(Always being the more visually impressive of the two.)

2010... I dunno if it's out on Blu Ray yet. I don't have such fond memories of that film. Say a bit of it again a couple of weeks ago. Maybe I should watch it again. I remember having a problem with making it all so concrete...

Nope. he may say it in the book, they refer to hims aying that in 2010, but he doesn't say it in 2001.
