Great result, this. Nice one, America. Now you've got that proven dangerous lunatic and his Dad's friends out of there, Ive got more respect and hope back for your nation.

i wouldn't be entirely confident about that bit given that many of the presidential advisors rarely change from president to president regardless of whether they're republican or democrat

So. Obama is the first African-American (or, at least, half) president. Wonder how long it'll be before the first assassination attempt. I'm no racist, but there are a LOT of other fanaticals out there.

I hear you. But he may change that too.. They may be just as bad if left as is, but Im just hoping that if they are different that there is 50% chance that they might not be.

Well this situation is pretty unprecidented so far, lets hope he gets a different team in too..

Yep. A lot of invested war mongers might get twitchy.
I hope not though.

How about two so far? While they werent carried out or came even close, it makes u wonder how many Aryan/KKK will try now that he actually won.

He'll have his ass pretty protected, I'm sure.

....I heard someone say that this moment in time, in the u.s., is a mixture of j.f.k, m.l.k., and the new millenium..

I just woke up and I still can't believe america has elected a black man as president of the united states.

I hope he does well. and I wish him well. i've never seen so much love and reverence for a us polititian.

I mean, even thugs were watching....

I dunno. maybe the now think or know they have some hope now..to change and to make something positive for themselves happen regardless of skin color and regardless of the hardships.

to me, this is all what some people needed. for someone to prove that you can make it in this country with faith hard work and a little luck. and you make luck cause luck is the resideu of skill and skills can be learned.

someone said, "I found out that the harder I work, the luckier I seem to get.."

congratulations obama. our 44th president of the united states of america. may god bless you with the wisdom you need to be our proud leader and may angels walk with you forevermore.

peace.

He isn't really the 44th though is he? Atleast not yet...he could be shot before his inauguration so...

Technically he won't be the 44th anyway, as the 22nd and 24th are the same guy, Grover Cleveland.

Yeah, but it's a technicality that no one ever cared for in previous elections.

Of course, one could argue that he'll be the 57th, counting the 14 before Washington, but even I'm not quite that pedantic.

Congrats, USA! thumbsup

the man is going to need extra security and intelligence, otherwise I give him 4-6 months before he gets murdered.

I actually felt as though history was being made when watching it, it all started sinking in as the result became official.

22 months ago I would have said, and did say, "They'll elect a woman before a black man.", and I'm glad I was wrong. What a truly momentous occasion.

Now, over the coming four years, let's hope he does enough good to make sure that Palin doesn't stand a chance when she comes back.

They probably calling Jack Bauer right about now!
In all seriousness, Secret Service will be working extra hard for the next couple of months and for the next 4 years.

Yeah, this is big stuff- history as it happens...and to think we were there, watching it as it happened.

I hope you are being sarcastic. Otherwise I seem to be the only one who finds this "History in the making, a big moment and I am proud I wittnessed it" a bit ridiculous.

I am in the same camp...I remember Diana's death and for years people would talk about where they were when they heard...as if it was some sort of significant event- Obama will not change the shape of the world...

Well, I am not saying that he can't be a good president and he might have major influences on the world, I just think those crying people on TV, talking about how it is the one event that will forever change everything are a bit out there.

Hmm, I don't think Barack Obama will ever live up to the expectations people have of him...I mean, GWB has certainly had a huge impact on world affairs but not one that will be remembered by most people in the decades to come.

By the end of the century Barack will purely be remembered in pub quizzes as "the first black-president"...He's not quite Napoleon or Caesar is he?
