People are only making a big deal because he's black. They're dumb enough to think there will be huge changes. Think again. The president's not really in charge and he doesn't make the decisions. Obama could only have gotten elected if he was willing to serve the demands of the elites, the omnipotent, ultra-billionaire corporations who own America and everyone in it, including Obama and everyone on this forum. He can't cancel the war because the elites aren't going to give him permission. He can't cancel the damage to American freedoms Bush did because the psychopaths who are really in charge won't let him. It doesn't matter what Obama wants to do because he's not making the decisions. Everything is and will always be exactly the way it already was with Bush and every white president. In four years everything will be just as bad and possibly worse and it won't get better if he gets elected again. Obama's no Christlike savior, just another figurehead, a puppet, nothing more than that, and neither he nor any other president, regardless of race or gender, will ever be anything more than that. The president has very clear demands his superiors require him to meet, and saving the world instead of amorally destroying it is not among those demands.

I think the fact that no change will be made is evident by the cabinet he has picked out (or whoever has been doing that for him).

There is an irony in the fact that he is being hailed as a new-epoch in politics, not because of his skin colour but because of his charisma, dynamism and apparent "new approach" to politics. There was so much hope that he would silence corporations and the big-fists and give America a fresh start with an increased standing in the world...
I can think of another president who was dynmaic and had a very definite new approach to politics, did silence the national oligarchs and most certainly saved his country from almost total destitution...yet no one calls him a hero the way they do with Obama...
It seems Obama hasn't marked the end of prejudice- at least not as far as countries are concerned.
