Not while being poisoned & having a heart attack he isn't. Especially while fighting an army of gogs. That's shit that even HE's supposed to have trouble doing. Is Gog really that weak? that gog was weaker than the standard one, yes.
you're missing the point, though, dude. it does explain it. superman is primarily a story driven character. he has limits on what powers he has, sure. strength, speed, heat vision etc, but within those powers is an almost limitless flexibility.
superman is as strong as he needs to be, he's as fast as he needs to be. you need him to fight darkseid? he can. you need him to push planets? he can. you need him to race across metropolis and catch a bullet fired from a gun six inches from lois' face? he can.
there's still plenty of shit he can't do, but fighting on when his back is against the wall? that he can.
he's Superman.

Which was a plot device win. Hulk should never have beaten a Superman analogue. Gladiator lost because he was a dumbshit and because Hulk's gamma radiation, or the nuclear reactor, are one of Gladiator's weaknesses.
