New Judge Dredd Movie coming

Rebellion and 2000 AD have announced that a new Judge Dredd movie is in development.

Together with DNA Films, the movie production company behind such films as Danny Boyle's Sunshine and 28 Weeks Later, Judge Dredd will go into production in 2009.

Jason Kingsley, CEO and Creative Director said, "We can't give away too many details at this point, but we're looking forward to working with DNA Films to bring Judge Dredd back to the big screen."

I hope the stench from the Sly Stallone-Danny Cannon misfire has cleared by now...
If Danny Boyle personally directs, that's a plus.

Why, I didn't like the Sly Stallone film and I doubt this attempt at a remake/re-imagining will be any good

Thats because it most likely will..

Not every film from the '80's or '90's need a sequel/reboot/reimagining..

Just because films do doesn't mean that the current one will be better..

Judge Dredd could be a great movie if it wasn't made all stupid and cheesy. Wait for Darren to finish up robocop and call him to direct the next judge.

There's hope because the comic continues to sell, so it means the central concept can work. Just needs the right treatment.

I'd go with Clancy Brown. I hear his voice whenever I read Dredd talking.

Either him or Ron Perlman.

Looks don't matter so much, because if they are true to the character, he doesn't take off the helmet & visor. They screwed that up early with the Stallone version, feeling their expensive movie star needs to show his face often. The voice and build matter more.

^And yeah, Ron Perlman is another good idea. He's spent most of his career in heavy makeup - a helmet & visor won't trouble him.

I loved both the comics and i thought the stallone movie was entertaining. i'm probably the only one...

looking forward to this, though. wonder if we'll see judge death...
