erm, well saying that isnt quite true. getting cancer is like the lottery. every one has the cancer cells which lay dormant until some thing activates them, what that may be (its still unknown which is why they like to say...'such and such will give you cancer..blah blah blah!'😉 One in 3 people develop cancer any ways, and alot of the time its a genetic link, much like breast cancer.
So wether I smoke or not I'm as likely as the next person to get cancer which is effectively a 1 in 3 chance. 😄
How ever quitting smoking will eliminate alot of other health problems for me as smoking suppresses the immune system and mine is impaired any way due to a genetic circulation disorder called Raynauds disease.
