I liked that in H2 the nudity was brief and it wasn't dwelled upon. Don't get me wrong, though, I like seeing a pair of breasts just as much as the next guy.
In any case, after seeing the director's cut of H2 I still believe it's the second best of the series (after the original, of course).
I liked that Zombie didn't follow any of the rules that came before him in previous films of this franchise, and I think that made the overall product that much better, imo.
Thats why I said its not the worst horror movie I've ever seen, not even the second but it is in my top 10 glare Tbh I think they butchered the originals, the original halloween was a master piece that should never have been butt raped by Mr. Zombie, the sequel to original was good for a sequel, not as good as the first but still pretty damn good, again butt raped by Mr. Zombie. I know there are people who liked the remakes, but I'm one of the many who thinks that remakes were not needed for halloween...but then thats just my opinion, if people like the remakes then fine, I'm not gonna try to change their minds.
Well, I watched this last night, on blu ray too, so some of cinematography in this film was gorgeous to look at. It's a lot better than the first one and worth the look but it's still nothing new or special. It could have been so much more with a bit of change.
Also, the script was awful in parts, you can SHOW anger/fear emotions from the victims you know. All the script writer seemed to do was have the character say **** **** **** **** mother ****er **** **** all the time to put across that... wow. The atmosphere was ruined because of that. It's a lot more powerful to show it through facial expressions/acting the emotions instead of swearing through the whole of it.
Also, I must have missed something. Why was the girls bedrooms/en suite bathroom covered in satanic like symbols?
I liked the visions element of the film but a lot of it was quite cheesy, especially the dinner scene with the weird creatures around the table.
Not a waste of time seeing Halloween II, but will not be adding it to my film collection.
The thing about Friday the 13th and Halloween is that they are lame slasher flicks. The sex/swearing comes first and then the plot/killing comes last. The killings are lame with very little gore, these movies are light weight slashers. The Hills Run Red still is a slasher but with better killings and the plot/script seems better. Also the swearing is not in every line and there was barely any sex so theres more to improve on in the other areas. This is also done by a low end production company where they can do more and get away with stuff unlike stuff done by Fox and WB etc...
The killings in Halloween II were rather excellent and brutal(especially in a hospital scene), I liked how Myers was in the sequel but would have prefered the beard gone. I don't mind swearing or sex in slasher films, just not when it ruins what could have been a good scene.
The Hills Run Red I'm currently waiting to come through, so should see it soon.
