Submission to Islam in the Netherlands

This is certainly a dark day for freedom of speech in the Netherlands.
A country which is paying the price for its Liberalism.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — A right-wing lawmaker should be prosecuted for inciting racial hatred with anti-Islamic statements that include calling the Quran a "fascist book," a Dutch court ruled Wednesday.

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders made headlines around the world in March 2008 with his film "Fitna," which juxtaposed Quranic verses against a background of violent film clips and images of terrorism by Islamic radicals.

In 2007, Wilders called for a ban on the Quran "the same way we ban 'Mein Kampf.'" He said both Adolf Hitler's work and the Muslim holy book contain passages that contradict Western
values.

I guess one culture is destroying a weaker one...fair enough.

Banning books is contrary to ''Western values'', I thought.

If you're so sure of your values, than no book should be banned.
Speak out against Islam in the same way you speak out against Christianity, but going around proposing banning books is just stupid.

Banning Mein Kampf is also weird. Are you going to ban Das Kapital as well because it consideres homeless people pieces of shit which need to be disposed of, and capitalism as a passing phrase into the eutopia of communism?

I say we ban books on the Crusades, Inquisition and anything to do with Jamie Oliver.

Mein Kampf is banned in Germany for obvious reasons. But the banning of books at all is against freedom of speech.

The problem is if you point out weekness´s in someones religion they might get a bit upset, want to change the subject etc. But a discussion is possible.

A lot of Muslims (you can´t generalise not even with this subject) tend to be a bit touchy for some reason, maybe because there are so many holes in their beliefs, and turn to violence.

Ask Theo Van Goch, oh you can´t they killed him.

Indeed. Throughout the history, stronger cultures prevailed and weaker ones vanished.

Many people think Islam will destroy itself if left to it's own devices...what a pity the Crusades knocked it off its course to enlightened thinking and scientific reason...😈

We all know about Theo Van Gogh and his brutal murder and the sick note left in his chest. By the way, his movie Submission was not insulting nor worth death he recieved.

Anyway, Islam is not only a religion but a social, political and military philosophy. This is one and very important thing the Dutch lawmakers/politicians don't get. Or choose not to.

is now a good time to insult islam? ermm

frankly, i don't care if a person is christian (like me), jewish, islamic, buddhist, or whatever...

what makes islam so special than it can't be criticised when other religions can? i know islamic people. some are quite dedicated to their faith, some aren't. luckily, they're nice people that i get along with. i really feel sorry for them, knowing that some idiotic, do-gooder ****** who spends their time finding something to whine about has more of a voice than they do.

for shame, holland.

So wide is Islam's scope, we may call it...ISLAMDOM!

Islamdom...I haven't thought about that.

Don't worry, it is an official term...you can use it legitimately!

Neither do I, as long as they leave me alone and don´t try to dictate what I should believe and how I should behave.

Which isn´t the case with some extreme Muslims, they want Sharia law brought in, and it is actually active in the UK in a voluntary way, for now.

as a matter of interest, have you got Mosques in Ireland?
And how would you feel being awakened by some Iman wailing from the tower at 6 am every morning.?

The Sharia law which is active as you describe it is only used as a form of mediation, usually in marital disputes. Jews are also permitted to use Jewish law in a similar fashion.

However the bodies that use Sharia law have no legal authority- it is purely voluntary and could be used with or without government approval.

What "extreme" anything isn't trying to dominate everyone else?

which sucks, tbh.

we have some mosques, but none (that i know of) like you would see on tv with the bells and so on. i've never been to where my friends pray, but i do know they do go somewhere every so often.

and if there was a bell, i'd be very mad. i'm a night person, i tend to wish mornings would piss off and leave me alone... a bell would only worsen that...

the biggest islam related thing in the news was that several schools here have banned hijabs. an irish man who had converted to islam made a big fuss about it, and rather than decide which was right and which was wrong, the government told schools to decide for themselves.
