This is certainly a dark day for freedom of speech in the Netherlands.
A country which is paying the price for its Liberalism.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — A right-wing lawmaker should be prosecuted for inciting racial hatred with anti-Islamic statements that include calling the Quran a "fascist book," a Dutch court ruled Wednesday.

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders made headlines around the world in March 2008 with his film "Fitna," which juxtaposed Quranic verses against a background of violent film clips and images of terrorism by Islamic radicals.

In 2007, Wilders called for a ban on the Quran "the same way we ban 'Mein Kampf.'" He said both Adolf Hitler's work and the Muslim holy book contain passages that contradict Western
values.

He wants the Quran banned?

Gather around folks, this is irony in the making.

and if there was a bell, i'd be very mad. i'm a night person, i tend to wish mornings would piss off and leave me alone... a bell would only worsen that...

They don´t have bells but someone singing some Islamic stuff through a microphone, or if he´s got a strong voice the person don´t need one. Ive been to Muslim countries Morocco & Saudi, and its actually quite cool when you hear it the first time, but it gets annoying after a while.

I live near some churches and the Bells really wind me up, have to close the window in summer time on Sunday mornings. If they were to play some sort of tune it would ´nt be too bad.

i remember the churches when i was in dublin, but they only rang at midday and at 6pm, so it wasnt too bad...

Raoul, I put these in every night or else I can't sleep. Any little noise wakes me up.

They are great.

And, yeah, what I would have said has already been said.

There's a difference between a country submitting itself to Islam and submitting itself to political correctness. As misguided as this prosecution might be, it doesn't necessarily suggest Holland's judicial system is bending over for Sharia, rather it has more to do with the West's post-WWII oversensitiveness and bad politics.

I think they are scared of the nutter part in the Dutch Islamic community so they are backing off.

Are they any good, and how often can you use one pair until they are messed up with wax?

Could do with some as I work nights and there´s always some dick who rings the doorbell, starts mowing the law, or general banging about when I wanna sleep in the morning.

You don't think they'd prosecute the guy if he said the same things about another religion?

Nah not really...

The 8 million Muslim Americans don't do anything like that because many of them respect the First Amendment and the ones who don't know they're extremely outnumbered and will get cut down to size if they try to make a stink out of it. And I know they ain't the majority in Holland, so why do they get their way so easily; are there that many passive potheads there? It's not just Holland either, every European country lets its Muslim citizens do whatever they want and always get their way. You guys really bend over backwards for people that would stab you if they could whenever you mentioned Mohammed's 9-year-old wife.

Too bad she wasn't eight, I could have used a 'The Big Lebowski' quote/response.

Backward. Forward. Not much of a difference really.

I really don't know what that is supposed to mean. Seriously, I'm confused.

And, for the most part, I agree with Quiero.

"You guys really bend over backwards for people that would stab you if they could."

Bend over backward is a phrase that means one is stretching or doing more than is absolutely needed to help someone else. Bending over forward can imply you're preparing to be sodomized.

Aha.

Makes sense now.

It would have been a lot easier to connect the dots if Bards had just quoted that last sentence. It's just me and the way I think.

Which is against Islam, hey, keeping it on topic.
