Did you expect GL sit there , drink tea and playing chess with other when Galan arrived. Beside Galan never successful in fighting planet that had heavy resistant like OA.

Anyway, they pretty much have to be, since there's no prep...
Besides, Oa was never very successful in defending heavy offense like Galactus...
They usually take quite a few casualties... and I don't recall them doing that great either without a plot device. If we want to follow that logic.
