They should keep the two classes of Aliens as the classic Human/Xenomorph and Predalien kind. I think spitting acid would take away from their play style.
The ones in Alien resurrection were human/Xenomorph ones. If you remember the aliens created in Alien 4 were all put into hosts bought over by that ship, they were strapped down whilst an egg opened and placed a xenomorph into each human host 🙂
Few gameplay vidoes and a first impression here:

Cool. The Alien race is more fun than I expected them to be.

No I haven't played the older AvP games. If that's the case then I'll take my $60 elsewhere. I'm a gamer that's into good single player with a good plot.
How do you know how the old games play if you havn't played them?
When you played as the alien in the second game, you didn't get a story told from your perspective but the story played out in a way that you could understand it.
As a human, you constantly talked to your boss, and read notepads found laying around in the game like you do in other FPS.
As the predator and alien, you overheard conversations and such from NPC's and had a ton of scripted events.
The story was really good in AvP2. It was done by Monolith, the developers who created FEAR, Condemned and No One Lives Forever. They weaved all three species into one cohesive story and you could play them in any order. They also had little clues that joined all there campaigns together. For example, you play as a alien, tearing shit up. When you play as the marine, you show up after the alien tears shit up and deal with consequences. As a predator, your the reason why the alien could tear shit up and stuff. So it all joined together. It was awesome.
This AvP is done by the original creators of the franchise, which was more a action game without any plot. But it was done a long time ago so it was normal for that time to do so.
I haven't seen much of the AvP games and I thought they were just games where you run around like it's Battlefront but I realize now that it isn't because I just went and saw several vids on Youtube about the games and I must say they look good. Maybe now I have thoughts on getting it when it's out.

This, I enjoyed how the story played out very much.
