ooh, thats a nice trailer, can't wait to see the full one. Shame mass effect 2 didnt launch this month, it looks a genuine contender for Game of the Year, there'll be lots to look forward to in 2010, but i must say this is top of my list.

This, Heavy Rain, and Halo Reach are my 3 big games for next year (And Zelda if it comes out next year, though I kinda doubt it.)

Next year, I'm excited for Bioshock 2, Dante's Inferno, Mass Effect 2, Heavy Rain, Dead Rising 2, Metal Gear Rising (if it comes out in 2010), Alien vs. Predator, Halo Reach, and the North American version of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

Remember that argument about Shepard being dead or not? Well

Spoiler:
the answer is both yes and no. Shepard did die but he/she was resurrected through nanomachines
If you're wondering where I found that, I read a Joystiq article talking about the beginning of the game.

God damn it.

Should've known better than highlight that...but at least its beginners info.

Final Fantasy 13, Halo Reach, Bioshock 2 and Mass Effect 2 are the big daddies.

Guess you're mad that neither side of the argument won, huh?

I only highlighted it because I thought you were gonna curse at me again. Remember Resistance 2 and FEAR 2? I still can't believe I was kicked out just for that.

What Joystiq article? I would be very interested in reading it...

[edit] Aah, never mind, I found it.

Yeah. Sorry about that, but at least now you post the spoiler tag so I got no one to blame but me! haha!

Shepard is going to kick so much ass!

From the looks of things this game might get refused in Australia...........doh

In Mass Effect 1, I can only save the game before I decide whether I should let the Council die or not. How will ME2 know what all my decisions are if the first one won't let me save after I choose the Council's fate and who should be the human representative?

it creates a save state after game completion of the character you just used.

I wonder what's the default storyline? I reinstalled Windows and I can't be bothered to play through ME again.

Is Mass Effect like Gears in gameplay but you design and level up your character?

Sort of. You also acquire weapons and armour among other stuff. You also have two teammates with you at pretty much all times who level just like you do and can be equipped with items.

The gameplay is somewhat similar to Gears, but it's less action orientated and significantly slower. There are plenty of gameplay videos on YouTube to watch if you're interested.

If Wrex survives through Mass Effect 1,

Spoiler:
he's gonna be back at his home planet teaching his Krogan brethren to combat the Genophage and focus on survival so chances are he may not be a playable character even if he doesn't die in the first ME.
I found the info on Bioware's website.

Aww, that sucks.

Not really. Yea, it has third-person shooting elements, and a bit of a cover system, but Gears of War is more of an intense third person shooter with little to no good story telling, whereas Mass Effect is a game which focuses on story and the gameplay is nowhere near the intensity you find in Gears.

If you are looking for a game as "fun" as Gears, I would not really recommend Mass Effect, but if you are looking for a great story with enjoyable gameplay, then Mass Effect is a great game.
