Gaming Talents.

So is that why you like turn-based combat so much? 😛

Indeed, the age of turn-based combat is dying, soon, it will be all about real-time combat.

For me, my talents are mostly reflex reactions, and having the ability to turn a loss into a win at the last possible moment.

My fighting game strategy usually starts out as testing my opponents reactions to what I do. For that reason, I don't mind losing the first round. Once I get into their playing style I can adjust my own patterns to compensate. All the while, I hold off on using anything too big incase I need a breaker.

I do prefer turn-based combat in games for the most part, though there's plenty of games that I like that don't have it 😛

It's just simply not as boring to me.

Video games do not require any special talents. A persons gaming dexterity results from their experience. The only traits that i can think of which may help someone be better at video games is focus and patience but those are not talents.

Someone may be better at certain types of games over another but i think that is decided by personal interest. I suck at racing games but only because i do not have the patience to play them. I am quite good at FPS games and RPG's but thats because they appeal to me a great deal.

I don't mean to shit on the thread because i think i know what the thread starter was trying to ask (what type of game are you best at?) but i thought i would take the opportunity to voice my opinion that playing video games require no talent or skill, regardless of what "professional" gamers say.

But it's awesome.

And I dunno, maybe I'm just a genius, but it's pretty obvious what he's asking, at least to me, the genius.

To answer the OP seriously, my strongest point when playing a game is that I have a very distinct map awareness at all times because I have an innate obsession with detail (in games). I play defensively by nature so while most clamor for kills in any type of slayer game, I tend t hang back and watch everyone else do whatever they do, before I do any fighting myself, and after doing that I notice things like a flicker of movement on the other side of the map, the different sounds guns make, the noises the characters make when they're walking, crouch walking, switching weapons, moving around on different textures of floor, etc. I notice when there is no sound at all, shadows or the lack there of, puddles of blood on the ground or corpses. I also notice patterns in people; what they're objective is in the match are (usually to get as many kills as possible), what weapons they prefer to use, the routes they take, wither they like to travel alone or with other team mates, etc.

This all makes it possible for me to judge what the other team is doing before it actually happens, which obviously is very useful.

The problem is that I have very slow reflexes when it comes to video games and I panic easily, and as a result I tend to be destroyed by someone even though I knew what they were going to do before they do it.

I should make a movie off of you. The young blaxican with a gift like no other in video games but will his special skills be enought for him to be accepted by the white community of gamers? He must have double the greatness to compete with them. This summer, Final Blaxican is... The Alpha Gamer!

Im an offensive gamer. I usually run in and attack. 85% of the time I survive, 10% I die, and 5% I realize its futile so I fall back to save my own life. Im good with a Sniper Rifle in most games EXCEPT Left 4 Dead, why ppl grab that kind of a gun in a "RUN LIKE HELL" kind of game is beyond me. But I am a decent player. I was a Brigadier in Halo 3 before the patch where you had to rank up in each game, how ever my rank stil lsays Brigadier. Also, No you can not have my tag.

Because snipers are good on campaigns like blood harvest, death toll and dead air. Boomers are sneaky fat ninjas that can barely be seen. If you can scope them out from a far off distance then you're ok. Its better to shoot them from afar than to wait for them to get too close to the point where you have to melee them back. Anyone will tell you how hard that is to do on expert. All of that and the fact that the sniper is a 1 shot 1 kill gun and is second only to the auto shotty.

Now the M16 and uzi is what I don't understand. Little to no crowd control, takes like ten bullets to kill a normal infected, and you run out of ammo super quick.

I remember combos like mad. The Tony Hawk Pro Skater series made me come up with some insane runs and I could, easily, combo up to almost 1,000,000 every time.

The same can be said for fighting games. I remember a shitload of combos for the Tekken series, not to mention some really insane combos for Killer Instinct 1 and 2.

Wooo, killer instinct.

I am very talented in throwing a controller out the window if a game annoys me too much.

I personally need to work on that skill, it's one I'd like to master.

Do I sense some sarcasm?

im great in team games..im always the distraction or the first guy to go in, not because im the best player (probably the worst on the team, to tell the truth 😛), but because i choose heavy weapons like the 'nade launcher, rocket launcher or grenade/bombs to cause major distractions while the others go do whatever the team strategy requires them to do..

on the flip side i also like stealth, and if a game lets me play a stealth character (bothan on SW BF2 for example) i can play the reverse role and let everyone else distract the enemy while i get them from behind 😄

im much better at the first plan than the second, though 😬

This thread sucks (not really), cus i dont usually find myself having any paticular trait. Im ok at most games, maybe good at a few, but not amazing or have any special talents for any games. Similar to blax, i tend to panic a lot, and not only online, like if i was playing guitar hero and ima bout to fc a song my heart starts beating fast, i have no idea why, and then i slip and miss some of the easiest notes. I tend to have to work much harder than most people to get to where they are at, and i lose a lot online unless i play it constantly. If you want you can look me up on bungie for halo 3 to see my skill level, its alright. my gamertag is the same name as my kmc name, k1Lla441.

If anything im alright at god of war, im a lil stuck on theseus in titan mode, i play expert at guitar hero and the hardest song i can play would be the number of the beast, cliffs of dover, or one on expert. And tetris, i can get to lvl 15 and clear out all lines on tetris evolution like its nothing, just takes some time. My score maxes out around 647k i think. And im pretty good at tony hawk pro skater 3, i can easily get like 6-700k points in a level. Those dont seem like good traits to me cus most people who actual try to do these things could.

Yes, you are quite good at that. As well as being extraordinarily stubborn with annoying games.

You know, your attitude might slide in the OTF, but not here. Knock it off.

As am I. You think that it'll happen?

I have a knack, or have been told, that I am a quick puzzle solver. Perfect example would be RE4 when you play as Ashley and have to solve the sliding square puzzle. I figured it out in less than a minute. Honestly. Also, GOWII when you have to break the walls open and discover the current of water, you have to pick up the dead body, walk it over to the current, and then wait for it to come around full circle so you can pick it up again to set the switch. It just instantly became apparent to me.
