Watchmen

Agreed, on the cliche' lines, but overall I liked the trailer. I can already see Comedian being my favorite character in this.

I'm fine with Rorschach's voice, not quite how I pictured it in my head when I read Watchmen, but it'll do. I am, however, disappointed in Manhattan's voice, I thought it'd sound more ethereal/wise. I don't think we've seen enough of Veidt to judge just yet, but I'm skeptical.

As for the music, I enjoyed the first half. I don't think that Muse's "Take A Bow" really fit the trailer though (although it is a great song on its own).

Remember, it's a trailer. They may still make some changes. Voices can be changed. Also, fake spoilers, like the end of the movie, can also be put out there ON PURPOSE. That is why I am holding all judgement until after I see the movie.

The Comedian will probably gain a lot of new fans from this movie. Veidt, not so much.

I think it looks awesome. I am quite excited to see it.

As am I, though I do share SnakeEyes concerns over the voices. Moreso over Rorschach's voice than anyone else. I imagined him sounding like the Question from JLA because someone mentioned he was a Rorschach clone and it kind of fits the weirdo vibe.

Luckily, I don't care whose work it desecrates as long as I like the outcome.

That's a very illogical stance to have.

Obviously you care about this because you like Watchmen. If it's no longer truly Watchmen, why would you not care?

I just want to see people in the costumes do cool looking things that at least vaguely resemble the plot.

Actually, the character of The Question preceded Rorschach. Rorschach was based on The Question, in fact.
And you SHOULD care about the desecration of Watchmen! It's ****ing Watchmen!

Alan Moore fans generally are against it. Gibbons fans aren't.

I'm seeing a pattern. It's no coincidence that for everyone with that kind of ignorance as yours, there're lots of pretty pictures and graphics to look at!

All that bothersome plot and detail will probably play second fiddle to Snyder's love of speeding up and slowing down. The jailbreak is essentially going to be 300 all over again.

Really? Shows how limited my comic history is.

I'm just not that invested in it to have that kind of attitude towards it.

*Looks at the back of the book* I don't think I've read anything else with Gibbons' name on it so I can't say I'm a fan of his.

It's not that I'm against plots or anything or that I'm too simple to get past the slick graphics, I just don't care enough. When I first saw the preview I thought it looked like 300 too, but all I really do care about is being entertained. If it fails at that, the comic still exists and so do my memories of it. The movie will likely be forgotten.

Watchmen won't be different. Alan Moore's work and point won't be changed. No matter how shitty, or good, this movie is going to be, Watchmen won't be any less great.

Excellent point. People are making out as if a bad Watchmen movie will taint the comic. The comic is what it is, and nothing can change it's greatness. I'm really pulling for a great big screen depiction of it, but if not, whatever.

Good or bad news?(I want to see the Director's cut!)

...Gibbons has fans?

I haven't read Watchman in years should I go back and refresh my memory before this movie comes out?

Trailer looks good but like any comic book movie it's hard to make decent story in few hours. With so many comic book movie failure (at least in my view) not box office wise.

I hope it's at least decent

trailer looks awesome. almost peed myself when i saw it..

He certainly does, if the posters in this thread have any say.

Kevin Smith and Dave Gibbons clearly carry more weight than Alan Moore, to certain folk.

All three carry (and should carry) little weight on what you enjoy. I like stuff Alan Moore does, and I like stuff Kevin Smith does, for different reasons, but their view on anything doesn't matter on my perception on it. I am sure Kevin Smith hates things I like and likes things I hate. Same with Alan Moore.

Why should either have any bearing?
