Yep. I never really bothered with the story of KOF but I'm going to go out on a limb and say...It never had anything to do with fighters from different universes being brought together to fight. I mean unless I'm just really off base I was under the assumption KOF/FF/AOF was all one universe. I mean why not just go make a Capcom vs SNK movie?
fighting games are graded on two major things: character selection/quality, and the fighting engine. story is pretty much irrelevant in a fighting game, just call it a tournament and be done with it.
movies based on fighting games always get the character element totally assbackwards and get shitty actors who are hard pressed for work to sign on, always. and writers try and shoehorn in a story out about a fighting game that when you play it (especially kof), the story isn't that important and could be completely ignored, thus adding more ridiculousness since the actors try to portray ill written characters.
mai is going to be the lulzyist of all on screen, they're going to make her important to the story to justify her character's popularity amongst the fans, when all they had to do is cast hitomi tanaka (look her up if you don'y know and make sure to catch your eyes when they fall out) and put her on screen for five minutes. it would be a better portrayal in many ways, and be better if mai stays out of any story elements.

Guilty Gear...which one? I've only played Guilty Gear XX Λ Core & Overture. Did not like Overture. XX Λ Core was good.
Well they are all good, but the latest is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus, that one is pretty damn good. Overture is not a fighting game and is excluded obviously.

first and foremost make the whole thing in CG like advent children ( good voice actors, music, animation, cut boring scenes with fights, etc) it would make the following things irrelevant......
-hire strictly no-mane martial artists that look similar to the characters, regardless of acting talent. there are thousands of cosplayers in japan that can pull it off, why can't the film industry ever do the same?
-jam pack the movie with long fighting sequences, keep the chit chat to a minimum.
-and never fall prey to the accursed "love interest" dynamic, that kills action movies.
think any tony jaa flick, just with more fighting since there are more "tony jaa's" wanting to take each other's heads off.
He did allow and he had intake on what was drawn etc... I actually think that he helped with the art, etc....I agree, there are fillers, thats why I said dont include that.
I dont need to give high end feats because everything that they do are consistent.
I'll use an example though. The ginyu force shot blast at goku and goku was dodging them so fast (not punches but blast) that it appeared that he wasnt even moving. It was numerous of blast that was coming at him at tremendous speed.
Lets not even use the feat where frieza trapped goku in that death ball and was bouncing him around at tremendous speeds or goku outracing a nuclear blast.
What Goku has done has no actual statements. We have see him try and lift weight and he couldn't lift 20 tons(or 40) without going SSJ. In addition, his regular strength wasn't able to split a mountain apart, yet characters that you like, like hulk are able to do it just by walking

As my boyfriend said "Forget this is a movie about KOF, see it just as another generic MA movie...otherwise all you're going to see is a damn huge pile of the stinkiest sh*t in the universe".
He enjoyed their take on Mature and Vice BTW, and says he doesn't bother with looks as long as the personalities were gotten right (remember BS excuse for Bison in Chun Li craptastic movie- now that's OOC).
Though I'm sh*t scared of that crap.
Also, gundam, you're not right about non-importance of personality. If say K' (should the NESTS saga be made into movie) was to be depicted with the personality traits of Human Torch, I'll be beating my head against the wall in no time.
I don't worry about looks too much (though basic traits should stay to make characters recognizeable on screen- like Iori should be redhead etc), but no OOCes is what's most important to me- like making Iori and Kyo BFFs\gay versions of Romeo&Juliett).
