Athrun was such a ****ing wimp in Destiny. He completely forgot all that had happened in SEED and had to learn the same damn lesson again. I was yelling at him to get over it for most of the series. So annoying and pointless.
The only good times in Destiny was when the Archangel showed up. Sure they were mary sued like hell but at least they were cool, likable characters. I don't know why anyone cared about anything Shinn said or what happened to him, the guy was an insane prick through and through. His stupid redemption at the end was so forced and unearned. He wasn't worthy of shaking a real hero like Kira's hand. Boning the sister of a girl he (thought he'd) killed just highlights how despicable he was.
I watch Destiny purely for Durandel and Andrew Waltfeld. Athrun went dumbass. Cagalli went full retard. And Shinn was immensely unlikeable. It's like they decided that "for this season's protagonist, we're going to take the exact opposite of Kira and send him down the same journey." But forgot to make him likeable or relatable. Just moody and "tragic".
Anytime the original Archangel crew appeared was when an episode got good instead of just okay.

All the 3 main characters were neutered in some way in SEED Destiny. Athrun lost his balls after SEED, Kira lacked any development and was one-dimensional, while Shinn just barked and like a gullible fool, he followed any orders given to him once he got the Destiny Gundam and was shafted in favour of Athrun/Kira.
Meh, I liked Shinn, if only because he at least fought well in the pretty cool Impulse Gundam, and demonstrated levels of skill not seen since Athrun and Kira piloted the Aegis & Strike. Kira had 2 OP mechs, while Athrun was useless prior to Kira's second resurrection, and he then got an OP mech.
Lunamaria was the one who threw herself at Shinn, and she did forgive him.
