The two biggest problems with LSD are the reasons why it should stay illegal. The fact that LSD can severely alter a persons state of mind is extremely concerning. The affects of LSD are the same as a severe case of Psychosis.
The other major problem with LSD comes from the ingredients. The affects of LSD can be reproduced using many different types of extremely harmful ingredients. These ingredients are often used because it's easier, cheaper and quicker to make. So, unless you know where you're getting your trip from and are properly educated on LSD, you could be buying anything. When i was sixteen and stupid. I used to make "LSD" with this cat using strick-9.
Personally, i defend LSD and most other psychedelics. I think most people should go on a trip at least once in their lives. If done properly and with the right people, one can have a very spiritual and opening experience. However, done improperly, psychedelics can be extremely dangerous. Out of all of the drugs that are illegal i completely understand why LSD is illegal. Now, something like shrooms, well thats a different story 😉 Shrooms are very mild and less harmful to the body than alcohol or fast food.

Although I am very much for legalisation of all drugs, while you may not be able to overdose on LSD, some people may have severe trips which may result in long term brain damage.
My partner's father is a psychiatrist (now retired) he had a patient about 20 years ago, who came into the hospital due to severe brain damage because of LSD.
It's worth to note that he already had psychopatic episodes and other mental problems, so it wasn't randomly induced brain damage.
There was an experiment carried out, some years back involving LSD and schizophrenia.
Patients were given dose of LSD to take, as LSD opens up brain function where it was previously shut.
The results were as follows - close to 90% of participants were showing signs of recovery from schizophrenia, because LSD has promped parts of brain to work, which schizophrenics are normaly unable to use.
There was little over 10% of people which had gone even worse.
Because of those 10%, LSD stayed illegal drug. Although it was very close to becoming a legal medicinal drug.
lsd was labelled by many as the most useful anti psychotic drug of its time. many psychiatrists still beleive that{id say most educated and non biased ones still do} but are too scared to promote it because of the reaction from the public and the government. however, it shudnt be legalised in non controlled settings where one has to drive/control others/ do a job/is around children or threats to themselves}

Depends...
...on the person (personality, issues, mood, etc).
...on the situation (eg, familiar/unfamiliar, calm/intense).
...quality and dosage of the drug.
So, eg, worst case scenario: an insecure person takes too much of it in an unfamiliar situation. Very bad.
Back in the day, I never had a problem with it, other than sometimes the duration of the trip was more of a committment than I wanted to make.

I totally agree, let people do what they want, if they mess up its their own fault, after all adults arn´t kindergarten kids who need to be told what to do.
The real reason is probably because they can tax alcohol easier than other drugs.
And we've all seen how far Prohibition have gotten America. It bore, amongst other things, an immense underground black market, bad alcohol and of course, Al Capone.
Tax all drugs, ensure clean supply, and use the funds from drug taxation to develop cures to devastating diseases.
