The state of the forum

We changed the format here a bit to loosen things up and called for people to use the ignore. The sad truth is this is on all the posters who refused to take responsibility for their own behavior.

Complaining about this rule, that rule and blaming others isn't helping. It's not a difficult request to not say 3-4 curse words, not troll, bash or flame and to back claims with proof. The rules have been in effect for years and won't change because there are people who can't discuss fictional characters in a semi-rational manner. For all the griping, there are still several hundred posts to over a thousand posts per day in the Comic Vs Forum. So yeah, if this forum stays open there won't be any heavy modifications of the rules or format.

There are forums where it's a free for all with no rules. There are also pro Marvel and pro DC boards where nobody will call people on BS as long as it's in favor of the favored company.

This forum is fine though, the rules and stiopulations are all good. Aside from a few bad members there is no reason to drag the rest us down with it.

^ the irony in that second sentance was just spectacular.

We'll see what happens I guess. I'm mad that the Tourny/Battlezone sub-forum and the off site anything vs forum a few of us mods were pushing for may now be in the drain along with this forum.

Yeah, your not so subtle accusations are part of the problem. 😬

Again, personal responsibility. You know accusations are frowned upon. You know to PM a mod with proof or concerns. But still we have this sort of thing happening. So.....

Err, speaking of that, what exactly constitutes proof?

Whatever you think, PM it to a mod. Accusing someone on a thread is basically trolling and bashing. Tell a mod and we'll check the account.

As a comic versus. Yeah, but limiting.

The other day, I had the urge of posting Freddy vs. Darth Vader.

Just cant make those kinds of match ups here.

That is a good thing about herochat. You can also post all kinds of anime fights as well.

Well a seperate site for the "vs"forum would be a nice idea, but I suppose we will see where it goes from here. Personal responsibility with some composure isn't to much to ask u know.

Just posted four winners 😄

Whatever happens I vote that we spend the rest of our time here in a civil manner, no beef or bickering just fun debating without insults and stuff. DC or Marvel lets just have some fun with our remaining time be it a week, month or year.

I say we PM eachother methods of bypassing bans, and start trolling the other forums in the event they close down this board.

But that's just me. uhuh (or is it?)

But how can you really expect people to behave in a rational manner if you're also telling them it's a free for all with no rules? It's like sticking 50 people in a room and saying "Yeah you guys can drink and party and do whatever you want in here... just don't fight" and expecting them to go along with it. Things go great right up until they don't, and then all Hell breaks loose. There are just too many people here who can't even agree on the basics, and there's no real accountability for those who enjoy acting like an ass as they straiten up before their 50th warning so of course there's going to be a truckload of problems.

I understand it's not on you and pr because you guys aren't in charge of what constitutes "Ban-worthy", but it seems like some of the other Mods are being a little unreasonable in assuming that a forum with 4 times as much traffic as any other forum on KMC will function well under the same set of rules/standards as the smaller forums. It's like being outraged because a rural area grows into a Metropolis and has to pass more traffic laws to account for the expansion.

👆

Exactly what constitutes as a bannable offense though, having a opinion that isn't mindlessly cohesive with the conventional wisdom?

with a weak foundation under it, don't be upset when the building starts leaning over.

Or bad users who can't stay on topic and debate the issue.

I didn't tell anyone it's a free for all. I said there are other forums with no rules which are like a free for all.

I expect people to read the rules and act within the rules. Not a difficult concept.

People have the option to use the ignore if they can't reason or get along with another poster. Very simple. Others who continually break the rules get warnings, temp bans and perma bans.

Mods are capable people and can assess any problems. People who continually accuse posters or try to take matters into their hands are as much a problem as socks and trolls. That's the main drawback when we want to ban a problem poster. It's a lot easier when it's just one person acting up.

More traffic in a forum doesn't correlate into less rules. The rules are simple. Don't bash, troll, spam, use 2-4 curse words or sock. If there's a problem, use the report or PM a mod. There are set parameters added to the vs forum due to the nature of the debates but that's to keep everything to a set format.

Galan has done a fantastic job as Junior Mod. Might as well promote from within, amirite?

Ok , so we all know there are problems as Darth so eloquently stated. Now, lets see if we can come up with a solution. Instead of pointing fingers all around, lets agree on what rules would be fair. Maybe a 3 strikes you're banned rule. How ever we got to this mess is irrelevant right now. Lets try and come up with some logical steps to take, and turn this forum around. I know it can be done, especially with all the intelligent minds gathered here.
