As long as they are enjoying what they are doing in a fair and impartial manner then it's not pointless to them.
Volunteering time is rarely pointless. Without them the Vs forum would be in far worse shape than it's already in.

Exactly. And often its to get something accomplished. I set out to get a respect forum made, for example, and eventually got it. Now it's probably the best reference for comic book feats on the internet, or at least among the best.
But no, we don't get paid. It's a volunteer thing. If there was pay involved, the complaints about this forum would likely be less pronounced. As it is, it's a privately owned forum moderated by volunteers who, along with its administrator, have license to control it as they deem. Personally, I won't lose sleep over this forum. I haven't posted regularly in years. But I feel bad for those who still use it frequently.
Also, you guys aren't voting on mods. I merely asked for suggestions. As of now, no moderator is being brought on. It is simply being discussed. But the suggestions are still appreciated.

That way, other mods won't have to deal with a headache that they're prob often ill-equipped to deal with regardless and therefore would lead to a decrease in hostility towards the Vs forum."
I'm all for this idea. They don't want to deal with this part of the board, they can just ignore it. Give us one or two dedciated globals who will be on this part of the board frequently, and things will improve.
That's a good idea. I think several of us have suggested similar things.
Also the first versus forum I was ever on was one where the mods preferred that people report it if people were doing things like ignoring feats and lowballing characters. I had a few issues with that forum (too restrictive and a bit too biased towards a mod's personal opinion overrides everything). I still post there because I post on several versus forums and try to play by the rules of whatever forum I'm on.
But still, when I came here, I noticed the rules were basically the same as that other forum. So I just assumed that some other things were also the same, namely that you are supposed to report it when people flagrantly ignore feats and such. It literally was not until this thread that I 'got it'. The mods here don't want you to report things like that and, except for the versus forum mods, they don't care about that. Soooo, I finally understand. 😮 Just report trolling and bashing or highly inappropriate posts or threads. Don't report rules violations that are specific to the versus forum.
For another laugh at my own expense, when I came here, I thought the versus forum was the main purpose of KMC with some other forums there for a little variety. Why did I think this? Because the versus forum gets almost as much or maybe more posts than all the other forums put together. Its obviously what people are interested in more than all the other forums put together or at least more than any four of them. So of course I assumed it was the main attraction and the main purpose of having the forums. But clearly it was something that was added sometime along the way and, while it may have made KMC arguably the biggest or one of the biggest versus forums around, it clearly became something the mods didn't realize what they were getting into.
So it seems to me its kind of sad to dump the forum most people are interested in. But if the mods don't enjoy running it, they should either close it or go with an idea like yours if its technically feasible. Just make it so that Bada and Raoul and/ or someone else that is really interested in the versus forum can ban people and gets reports.

Members shouldn't be voting Mods in. Just like with standard comics settings, bias will eventually settle in.Whatever the mods have been doing to nominate and choose has worked fine until now...it should continue that way.
Oh I agree. Suggestions are nice and the very fact that the mods would take suggestions is better than some forums. But it shouldn't be a popular vote. Gosh, nothing could go wrong with that. 🙄 And people campaigning to be a mod should be disqualified right there unless their campaign is meant as a joke.

👆 Agreed. The campaigning (and even alluring to it) is just a sad and vain thing.
I usually don't come here that often anymore but I would be upset to see the forum go. Personally when I come here I stick to the regular comic book forums. I think what causes a lot of the arguments and the issues with flaming are how anal the arguments have become. I think what happens is that the bias has become so great for some members that many can't even look at a single scan and see the same thing. Even basic scans of pretty obvious material can't be agreed upon. The point of these threads is to debate and too have fun but I doubt anyone is enjoying themselves when they trace a single quote back to a 1978 comic (who knows how long it took them to find it) and argue about it for 15 pages. I think this is what usually leads to the hostilities that we see in many of these threads.
I don't post that much on this forum, I only post to threads I am intrested in.
It would be a shame for this forum to shut down since it is indeed one of the best comic vs forum around.
The only solution in my eye's is the last option that only the mods from the vs forum would get the reports made on this section of the forum.
The others wouldn't really help, because iff they would let this forum open and even iff they would add a mod, in a few months people would forget or start to forget this and the reports will go up again.
What would mean this part of the forum getting closed.
The very best thing would be for people to grow up and to not react to the trolls that start a thread or make a stupid post.
And to not report every small thing.
But I guess on this forum that would not happen.
