Your wrong about the community part, i'll get back to you about why no dedicated servers = fail later.

First off the COD4 pc communiy is large and is a real community with clans and people always going to a server they like because it feels like a "home" to them.

They hate match making because they don't want to get dumped into a server which would be filled with noobs and obnoxious people throwing racial slurs(which happens alot in xbox match making), they want to play with their friends or the community they formed.

If the host hosting the game happens to be downloading stuff in the background or has a crappy connection/shity hardware, everyone that was forced into that host due to IWnet matchmaking will suffer and unable to play the game which WILL be the case for many people as quite a number of players reside outside the US(myself included, that means i cant play MP even if i wanted to).

If it isn't a real community like you said it is why are so many clans and communities so unhappy about the issue? Why are there clans and large amounts of people boycotting the game? Hell even the ps3 fans right now are creating petitions and are displeased with IW's treatment of both the pc and ps3 community

On the PC side, there can be.

I'm part of a TF2 gaming community and they were trying to increase members and MW2 was a game that they were trying to use to gain more members. It seriously hurt the our chances to gain a different crowd of people because matchmaking effectively takes that out.

I understand why IW wanted to do it but the company became big because of PC gamers and dedicated server communities. It's a kind of big thing for some people. I enjoy playing TF2 with a bunch of people I play casually with. I'm not saying their my friends or anything but it's a sense of community that creates a much better experience.

The problems they listed on why they went with matchmaking was a bit problematic. One reason was because they thought people did not understand how to find a good game and it took awhile to find a game with a good ping.

That's complete shit. I never had trouble finding a game and if I did find a game troublesome, there are thousands of servers out there and you can quickly join up with another. With matchmaking, if the game is lagged, your ****ed, you have to go through the matchmaking service again and if it's like Uncharted 2, or Halo 3, its a couple of minutes before you get to play. Better control on dedicated servers. Those servers are administrated by actual people who care about who plays on the server. If they didn't, then, well, their server population decreases significantly.

I could go on about dedicated servers but in the end, I don't really think dedicated servers being a huge problem for people and the company and I don't understand why IW is not allowing both.

All fair points, guys.

In all seriousness i DO want to play MW2 so bad, both the SP and MP.

But because of my location, match making isn't exactly going to work for me as i live across the world.

Thats why i'm not willing to pay 60-70 bucks for a game whose MP has been severely watered down.
Paying that much for the SP alone is not worth it.

I live in Canada and I think about the others like Borat also because they also need to play the game at its full potential from how much he paid for it. They are so ignorant, they think only North America and maybe some other parts can play, which is all wrong because with dedicated servers they can.

Its like buying a WRX STI at 50,000 but the company says it doesnt come with the turbo.

I want to play MW2 so bad also, but refuse to pay 60-70 bucks for a game that is chopped up and the community doesn't want.

First and foremost I sympathise with the community. You guys are gamers just like anyone else. It's not fair for you guys, and I hope something positive works out for you guys.

Second, today is payday at work. So I drove to my local Gamestop and finally paid off my pre-order copy of the game.

I pre-order the Prestige Edition for my 360. To my surprise my local gamestop STOP taking pre-orders for the PE since last week. Seems like the absurd price tag did not discourage people from getting it. You can still pre-order the regular game. But all other editions are gone. Lucky me I pre-order since the begining of the year.

Third and final, I call up my nephew in Los Angeles...and he told me the same...sold out. This game will be a friggin success.

Behold! another WD prediction is upon YOU!

"Call of Duty:Modern Warfare 2 will BE the most successful game in both sales and in ratings of this decade."

Mark my words! 😖hifty:

I just saw the airport footage from MW2. Wow! This is going to be an intense game!

In terms of games that don't get shipped with new consoles then you could be right. Don't think anything will ever beat the numbers that Wii sports has done. Some 50,000,000 shipped with consoles. It's an utterly staggering amount. It broke Mario's 24 year reign.

My friends' had this game since Halloween and he said the game is really good.

i read that the producers of the game said that the graphics are one generation ahead of Call of Duty 4.

I'll be getting it for the 360 and the PC. The PC versions' the one i want the most.

Your friend is a dick for pirating the game.

It's the reason why IW doesn't really give a **** about the PC anymore.

A friend of mine played this game last night and got banned for it. ROFL.

Moron playing the game before release, especially a huge release like this, is the perfect bait.

A mate of mine was planning on doing the same. He works for tesco and they already have shipments of it. He was going to "borrow" a copy until release day (as the tills don't allow you to buy it before midnight next monday) and take it home.

I told him he better disconnect his xbox from the internet or he'll get banned. He decided not to bother and would just wait because the single player game probably wont be worth the risk of losing the ability to play online multiplayer.

Yea, I think the Xbox360 version was leaked. Heard nothing of the sort about the PC version though or I would be playing it already.

So he has an original copy? I believe what he is going to lose is the account. When you play a game before release they ban the account.

When you play pirated games they ban the console(ouch) I have a modded xbox, but I value my online too much for me to risk getting the console and account banned.

I believe retailers will likely get into deep water if they launch the game earlier than expected. The biggest offender would be 7/11 convinent stores.

Hey, say it to his face.

But we already have (or always find) the sofware needed that allows us to play online and just for insurance, after using and/or adding the needed software we always wait until about a week after the games launch.

We've done it with about 25 games and so far so good.

😎

IGN REVIEWS MODERN WARFARE 2 AND GIVES IT A 9.5!!!!!

They will ban your console for that.
