Oh, successful round.

SYNDICATE MISSION FOUR

The Syndicate was impressed with how you handled the small protest, and thinks you may be ready for more intense assignments. This one involves a Syndicate business investment, some shop downtown. It may or may not be a front, you have no idea. However, the issue is that the Syndicate has received word of a planned robbery of that place. They want you to be there, and they want you to make an example of the robbers by killing them...

CLARION'S TASK THREE

Clarion thinks it is time to try that drug-peddling liquor store again. She feels that you should not take a direct approach, but rather breaking-and-entering or just simple watching.

"We need to start getting evidence," Clarion says.

I will be at the shop protecting it if it gets attacked depending on whether they are hardened criminals or if they are more pathetic amateurs just trying to get by I will decide whether to kill them or just scare them away, telling them to lay low and telling the syndicate that they got away

I will use Savoir Faire and Obseervation to stake out the place and gather evidence that way, if I am sure that someone has bought drugs inside I will ambush that person and take the drugs off him, bringing the proof to Clarion.

They are amateurs.

-

It is more in the way of Intrusion if you want to actually get a hold of drugs and find evidence. The power 'Presence' certainly helps with that.

I will scare them away then. Not killing them.

I don't have intrusion, but I guess I can try to help myself with presence then.

Three successes on Intimidation means that your little amateur robbers get away... but the Syndicate is not impressed! You are not sure how they know what happens since you cannot communicate with them yourself, but you assume your actions are being watched since you receive a message confirming their displeasure that the amateurs are not dead. However, you keep your Morality point!

Mission failed.

-

Three successes on your Intrusion check (provided by Presence) allows Con to slip into the shop during the night without triggering the alarms. While searching about, he can use Savoir-Faire to understand how the operation should be working so he can find what he needs. Three successes there! You manage to find paperwork marking transactions between the shop and the Syndicate, and can snatch a sample of the pills that were being sold.

Clarion is most pleased and will follow up this lead.

Task successful.

-

More communicator-tinkering, another two successes with Fix-It. You are not quite there yet with what you are trying to figure out about the receiver...

Clarion's Missions: 2/3

Edited. Now contrasting 'Successes/Overall' for Missions, while Signal Tracking just gives you 'Successes/Goal.'

Gamemaster error! I have not been including Con's Presence bonus to his Intimidation rolls. This has not effected gameplay so far, but the extra three dice will be accounted for in the future.

SYNDICATE MISSION FIVE

Displeased with your inability to follow simple directions like 'kill them all!' the Syndicate has decided to send you on a less-than-friendly mission to make up for it. A shop downtown is, at the moment, remaining open due to financial loans from the Syndicate. However, they recently failed to meet their deadline to pay the Syndicate back their money. They want you to go collect it...

-

CLARION'S TASK FOUR

There was recently a body found in a back alley somewhere downtown. Clarion feels that there may be a personal connection for you to this crime scene, and asks that you go. In addition, she wants to connect this to the Syndicate, for which she will need leads.

Sure enough, the murder victim is one of the boys you scared away from the robbery job...

Gather evidence from the crime scene and piece together what happened to him.

I will go there and intimidate the owner to give me the money, and i that doesn't work beat him up to do so. If I get attacked by blasters or more than 4 people I will use my blaster to protect myself.

I will use my observation skill to find out any oddities about the body and the crime scene, how he got killed, or any sort of information that could lead me to the killer, possibly needing savoir faire to connect some dots.

Observation for the crime scene works, but it'd be Medicine to investigate the body.

I will use Medicine then.

At first the owner of the store is not willing to hand over the money, as he says he has only made enough to keep the store open and cannot yet pay the Syndicate back. But when you threaten violence (five successes on Intimidation!), he has no choice but to give you what he has. The Syndicate gives you a drop location and another Syndicate soldier collects the cash.

Con, however, lost a Morality point for that. Master Raskae would not have been pleased with your behavior, regardless of what it got you.

Mission successful.

-

Medicine is not Con's best talent but it is fairly obvious what happened. You find a gaping wound in his back, and melted metal fragments embedded in the wound. Savoir-Faire tells you that it was an explosive dart that you can fire from a disposable launcher, and Observation again (based off of the angle of the hit that shattered his spine and bled him out) helps you find the launcher! Evidence indeed, Clarion is grateful for this.

Task successful.

-

Two successes towards the communicator tells you what kinds of signals the receiver is designed to intercept! From there you will be able to narrow it down to the one you want...

CON'S PROGRESS

Clarion's Missions: 3/4

Morality: 9/10

Well, it's going pretty good

This time, the Syndicate leaves you be. The silence from your communicator is worrying.

-

CLARION'S TASK FIVE

Clarion thinks that what you have gathered will help prove that the Syndicate is a violent and dangerous organization. However, she still wants to take things a step higher.

She heard recently that incumbent Cirdare of Luon, Gormus Yagathoon, was holding a meeting with Broden Abzi, his campaign staff, and... others. She wants Con to stealthily spy on the meeting to see what is discussed, suspicious that Cirdare Yagathoon, who is retiring from politics at the end of his term, may have connections to the Syndicate.

I will find a convenient spot and try to hide with my present skill, gathering information (perhaps with observation?)

Best way would be to sneak into the building that the meeting is being held in... a government complex, but not as secure as the one used for the debate.

I will try that then.

Con goes in! With the guard being less intense than what Azrakel Joon has going on for security, you will only need two successes to gain access to the building. As it is, you roll four. You sneak into the airducts of the building rather easily...

The conversation between Abzi and Yagathoon mostly concerns handing over political power and how to do things once Yagathoon leaves office, as they seem rather sure that Joon will not win the election. However... they do discuss the Syndicate, its importance to the success of Abzi's campaign efforts, and their shared desire to make the Syndicate a permanent part of the Luonese government. Such talk is the stuff of conspiracy; the Senate would never approve.

Task successful.

-

Only one success this time. You are having trouble determining which of the frequencies and signal types that the communicator for sure operates on.

CON'S PROGRESS

I'm doing pretty good, I think.

Indeed, you're doing rather well.

SYNDICATE MISSION SIX

After a bout of silence from the communicator, you receive a message making a special request of you. A prominent political commentator on Luon has thrown his lot in with Azrakel Joon, looking for reform in the government and routing of corruption. However, this is adverse to what the Syndicate was hoping for from him. The bribes haven't worked... they were hoping you could rough him up. He lives in suburbia, just beyond the capital of Luon. It is not guarded but may have security systems. They think you can figure it out.

-

CLARION'S TASK SIX

Your efforts to spy on Yagathoon and Abzi are not the first; Clarion has you do it again, and record their conversations. After this occurs once or twice more, she decides that there may be some benefit to getting Yagathoon on your side, if it can be done. She wants you to arrange a meeting with him and discuss helping Joon win the election. She urges you not to give away anything about your mission to undo the Syndicate.

I will intrude into his place and then intimidate him a bit.

I will try to delay a message to him and then persuade him to help Joon.
