Quitting Smoking

ok this is a thread about any1 who was/is a smoker, why you would/woudnt wanna quit. how you got about doing it and how hard it was/is.

personally, i was a pretty heavy smoker for like 2 years maybe. i quite about 3 months ago, and i do feal better for it. although, the desire to pick up a cigerrette is still darn strong at times. in a way, physically, its been one of the hardest things to refrain from for me, specially when nicotine becomes such a basic part of your body. ive never been much of an alcoholic{part of the reason being where i live} but ive never had this much problem with any other drug.

discuss.

Well, I think it's time for you to take the game up a notch.

Go for LSD!

hmmm, lsd is NOT good for me, im in a perpetually down mood and my adrenal glands hardly work, and im pretty screwed up neurechemically, very little endorphins n stuff, all thanks to long term depression, so its inevitably a bad trip, even though i dont freak out. hmmm, honestly, ive never done injected heroin but ive NEVER come across a drug more addictive than nocotine.

It took me 7 tries over 4 months to quit. I believe on Try #5 and #6 I went 60 hours before giving in.

I used the Nicotine gum (4mg), and the key was to get to the point where you enjoy chewing the gum more than smoking a cigarette. I know that sounds tough to all you smokers out there, but then again, it did take me 7 tries.

i didnt use the nicotine gum.......possibly because i can literally feel the nicotine in my blood and then id try another one, and soon, im a gumoholic, i guess i was more a nocotine addict. and i didnt slip. although that might have sumthing to do with being bed ridden for nearly two months since i was sick.

It's hard as hell to quit the gum and I still chew from time to time when I get an urge, so I can't say I've quit that completely. You're right, you can feel the nicotine and it's hard to give that up.

But I'd rather have that problem than carcinogens going into my lungs.

Ive never smoked apart from the odd joint and cigar, lucky me.🙂

Only quitters and sheep stop smoking.

I want to quit it, I've been smoking since I was 11 and now I'm... let's say I've been smoking more the half of my life and I KNOW I MUST quit but have no idea where to start, I've never tried anything, the longest I've been without a cigarrette is 4 hrs 🙁 past this time I start feeling dizzy, with a terrible headache and in a really bad mood 🙁 it's annoying... being an addict

The best way to do it is to deal with it. Will power, man.

Will power.

lol what would you do after sexy time?

I stopped smoking a few years ago, I didn't use any gum or patch's or anything like that I just stopped when I was ill and couldn't leave my house for a few months. After being in agony for about 2 months and not thinking of smoking it was easy to give up.

I had tried loads of times before that to stop without success.

I've tried the gum and the patch, but what really worked was Nicotrol . Best stuff ever. You need a script for it though or else it's out of pocket. But it really works.

that's what most of my family say... I say they do not know what it is like... or maybe I haven't really tried, or maybe I don't want to... has it happened to you? To know something is very bad for you but still do it?

Have any other helpful advice? 👇

It IS very addictive. I've heard it is as addictive as heroin. It's very hard to quit, but that stuff I mentioned in an inhaler so you still get the nicotine, but for some reason it seems to ween you off. Maybe because it doesn't have to addictive additives added to it.

And to answer your question, yes, I believe many of us do things we know are not good for us. But we like it just the same. Go figure.

Sounds like you're joking, but I actually do know people who had those life-changing moments on acid and have gone sober after taking it

I've been smoking since I was 14. Although I've cut down considerably from a pack-a-day to about a pack every 3 days, I can't kick the habit either.

I'm a smoker too, so I lack any good advice! 👇

I haven't really tried giving up. I'm happy with what I'm doing at the moment. I am not a chain smoker, and I'd say I smoke about 15 a day, on average. Sometimes more, sometimes less, depending on what I'm doing and where I'm going.

Heroin is less addictive.

Seconded.

A pack of Kool's will last me for almost week. Except, that is, if it's the weekend and I'm consuming alcohol with my friends, then I'll smoke more than I stutter!

I really ought to consider quitting, though. Kool Filter Kings are over $5 a pack now.
