imo, just chalk it up to wonder woman being smarter and a better combatant than he is, even though he had a clear speed advantage, he's clearly not very used to opponents outsmarting him.

wonder woman still beats gorgon though, that's an entirely different matter. she doesn't even need the speed advantage to do it.
