If they don't want to write disabled or LGBT characters so badly that they'd rather not write, they're not writers, they're idiots.

It's just kinda sad in so many ways how people are trying to police things now though. There shouldn't really have to be a choice of "write some gay or disabled folk or you don't write at all".

Yeah it sucks, but people are shitty and will continue to be shitty unless shepherded in a different way. I don't entirely agree with it, and there are lots of examples of people being policed right now that I disagree heavily with, but this is just the BBC trying to be more inclusive to marginalised people. Maybe one day we'll be a decent enough race where we don't have to do anything like this, but like I say, people can be shitty and letting them be shitty everywhere just makes a constant, depressing stink.

Be the strange you wish to see in the world

Shaun of the Dead really holds up. It used to be my fave film 4ever so it gives me dem weird nostalgic feels, especially watching it now and realising I'm only four years younger than Shaun and not an ounce more responsible, probably less so

It's hard to see us ever truly getting rid of racism/sexism completely. Unless we resort to some sort of drug like they use in Equilibrium.

I'd take the incinerator, personally. Unless I had mad skills like Bale.

Equilibrium is underrated, I really enjoyed it. It was like THX-1138 crossed with The Matrix. Thought Bale's performance was great in particular.

Agreed, solid SciFi despite the low budget and Bale was excellent in it. I own and watch it every few years.

Yeah, and this is a great Rotten Tomatoes example actually lol. The score on there based on critic reviews is 38%. The score based on audience reviews is 81% lol.

I only first saw it last year I think but it is the kind of film I'd happily watch again. I was worried it was going to turn into a bunch of guys doing backflips or some shit but it stayed mostly drama-based throughout and I really respected that.

Critics know shit-all, for the most part I don't trust them, other than Ebert (RIP) and Mark Kermode for the most part

Two 'for the most part's, well why not I guess

I kinda stumbled across it shortly after it came out, hadn't heard about it at all. Just knew it had Bale as the star and it was SciFi, so I was sold there.

Ugh now I’ve got myself into a race row because I’m apparently ignorant to “minorities” awehawe

I knew I shouldn’t have commented pained

This is why I never comment on things.
