I just had this random memory of when I was a live in nanny and the eldest girl I looked after who was 5 was doing a school play and really wanted her dad to come see her and he said he would but he never showed up
I just remember seeing her looking around for him and I could see the pain in her eyes but she was trying to hold it all in
So afterwards she went to the cloakroom and I went to talk to her and my heart broke for that little girl and I just sat there and we cried together and I apologised for him and made excuses for him
Then we sorted ourselves out and I made her laugh and smile so she could go back to class and be ok
It’s something that will stay with me forever because I loved those girls like they were my own and I felt her pain that day.

Honestly, sometimes things just come up. I have promised my daughters I would got to one of their functions, but then a surprise issue came up at work or something to that effect. It's nice that you cared so much though. I'm sure it was much appreciated
Nah he was a deadbeat dad. I knew he wouldn’t show up. He rarely made time for them.
