Sadly this is because Islamic terror attacks in Muslim majority countries are quite common. You can't be surprised that it's seen as bigger news when they go into non-muslim majority countries and murder you.
Just like I could say that all the recent shootings in Chicago do not seem to be news worthy, that is because shootings in Chicago(or anywhere in this country) are not rare, but a mass shooting is comparably rare.

We have a huge population and guns are a big part of our culture. It's not a great mystery lol.
