Lol, wellness program came about in 2006. Do you feel nobody got in trouble for drugs after that?Say yes, please.
I'll try again.
The wrestlers BEFORE Uncle Ted starting giving guaranteed contracts in WCW felt compelled to wrestle longer as they made less money. TODAY, wrestlers make more money, have a greater outlet to income outside of wrestling, and have learned from their predecessors.
Wrestlers will always take steroids because of both the therapeutic and aesthetic effect. They are CLEARLY no longer as widespread. The roster now has guys 240-250lb as being "BIG" guys. Compare that with the era before where guys were 260 and 270 and ripped on average.
Steroids in ADDITION to illicit drugs is AGAIN the toxic combo. Look at all the classic bodybuilders from the "PUNPING IRON" era with Arnold. Most of them are still alive and those that passed away did so in their 70's and up.

Yes, nobody said steroids were widespread though. Drug use is.
As I understand it, a problem with WWE right now is that they clearly have favoritism going on with certain wrestlers and how they deal with someone getting caught with drugs or something.
Like hasn't Randy Orton been caught multiple times with drugs of some kind or something like that, only to get essentially a slap on the wrist by the company because he's a big star, where if someone of lesser popularity did they'd get ditched permanently?

Are you talking about "ILLICIT" drugs? Pharmacological drugs? or simply alcohol?
I'm talking about all the things wrestlers are known to abuse. One is booze, which is legal. This is not about legalities, but the effect this shit has. Booze abuse, pain pills(legally prescribed and illegally bought) are used, a lot. Certain steroids they are given prescriptions for are used, a lot.
Coke+booze+pain kills is a deadly combo. The wrestlers who used to abuse steroids are at an even greater risk of dying.
You can say they have bigger money and better contracts. All true, and yet they still have schedules that put other sports schedules to shame. And younger guys practically kill themselves in order to GET those big contracts.

That's the reality in all of sports actually. Especially in MMA.
The UFC has selective enforcement as a means of controlling the market and forcing down the price of their fighters.

Steroids, I repeat: steroids. That was the big thing they wanted to get out of wrestling. Legal drugs, like pain pills, get abused, a lot, and mixed with other drugs. I don't see why this is hard to get.
Prepare yourself for this reality if you ever wanna make it big.
