Hell, even trolls just enjoy the chaos, it has a purpose, it may not be a purpose you are I would enjoy, but it makes perfect sense to me. Really, if I got banned permanently, if I couldn't appeal, I would, ultimately sock, I think, because I enjoy KMC, even if I don't enjoy some of the rules.
I don't have the skills to sock for one thing, but I figure if I ever got banned I wouldn't care enough to make another account and come back as a sock.
There's just a reputation attached to a name. By socking you have to do it all on the sly or risk being reported. You can't openly be yourself I figure.
People who do it just to create chaos or get revenge need to get a life. Oooh you're so edgy and cool, you're obviously the first person to ever create another account to shit disturb. 🙄

Yes, I imagine it wouldn't be as easy or enjoyable as being on here the regular way, but the reasons for people to come do not vanish just because you got banned, you know?
