Though Sans was a more difficult boss battle, this doesn’t mean that he was more powerful in any way. Once Flowey got all the souls, he literally one-shotted Sans, Papyrus, Toriel, Asgor, Alphys, etc.

He did this with a single vine.

That pretty much explains all of it.

I also don’t see how Sans is very capable in close combat, meanwhile Asreal Dreemur has two extremely powerful swords that he could dice Sans with.

Sans can’t break the forth wall, Asreal Dreemur would break it.
