i think a good way of calculating the long term value of your career is by determining how easily replaceable are you.

could you be replaced by a robot or program? then you are very easily replaceable and your career sucks, regardless of how much you're earning.

I just want to watch it all burn.

you have to be fast and it has to be perfect. if youre not ready then the whole team isnt ready.
you work as a team to do the best you can. you wont be thanked. you might not get tip out. the hours suck. managment thinks youre trash.
but you do it day in and day out. for nothing. but you cant leave because youre too invested. you have learned. you have traveled. you love it and would never trade it for anything.

thats what it takes. every day. it sucks. its amazing

i fumbled my way into this career.
i could not love it more.
i could not imagine doing anything else.

i think that eventually machines will be able to sense and calculate ideal tastes to the point where you could eat 5-star cuisine robot-restaurant food every day of the year and taste the exact same food.

but the good news is i think we'll be too old or dead to care when it happens. 👆
