I don't know. The Bible is a complex book. I tend to focus on the NT because it actually tells me how to live a fulfilling moral existence, rather than making me get bogged down in Lovecraftian nonsense. I'd rather just read Lovecraft if that were my intention

The OT is essential to explaining why Jesus is so important to the Christian faith: when Jesus died on the cross, He doubted God. Think about that: even God doubted his own existence and strength. These are the seeming-contradictions that make up our lives, and the things that make them beautiful. Life is tough, and we doubt reason, but the truth is always right in front of us.
I understand why the OT God was vengeful. I know why the NT God (Jesus) was forgiving. Being God is hard, man. Cut the guy some slack. He gave you life.
