well i don't like deicide's whole catalogue. most of it i didn't like very much tbh, but the rare gems are really great listening for me.

jeff walker has a really cool voice. for me voice is the most important. if i hate the voice, i dont care how legendary the band is. thats why i hate rush
I get that, I can be picky about voices at times. Jeff Walker is certainly a monster tho. Carcass are way better than Napalm Death, but ND get more rep because they did a 1 second song

I still love ND tho

For sure. I love 'Satan Spawn, the Caco-Daemon' and the title track from Serpents of Light, the vocals on those tracks are genuinely chilling

napalm death was another one i didn't like because of voice. i'm not saying he was doing it wrong, but i always hated that type of generic growl. sound like beer burps or some shit

Glad to know Carcass get some love in the US tbh

i'm not sure they do anymore. i really don't have my finger on the pulse of death metal fandom, these are just relics of my childhood

I mean they created that voice more or less but yeah doesn't change it sounding like the Cookie Monster, drunk on Heineken

right but everyone copied it so i hated most death metal

I judge him by the standards he supposedly set forth: thou shall not kill.

Thou shall not MURDER.

That is the correct scripture.

MURDER is the taking of innocent life. All killing is not murder.

Their last album kind of kept them on the radar. Death metal-wise, I've found that straight DM stopped being consistently good after 2000. There are still some bands that do it right, but imo most of the production is too clean, and there just isn't much, idk, passion to it. A lot of modern DM sacrifices guts for technique

literally EVERY goddamn local death metal band was cookie monster beer burping.

The first Cannibal Corpse guy, name escapes me rn, that guy does it the most ridiculous. I'm fine with it personally but it does sound silly

Thank yourself lucky tho, I grew up with crabcore

crabcore

I'd take beer burps over fringe-squealers any day

k night

youtubed it. regretted it. the opening was pretty dope so i got drawn in and then came the first verse and i felt awkward and immediately turned off to it...kinda like when i would come across christian metal bands on the radio.
