that's a good point but I think it's more that KMC often tends to 'favour' high contrast images in terms of how pixely they go. that being said I've also had high-contrast stuff go super pixely too

It's just a bit of a ****around in every possible way with little reason or rhyme

also start with the biggest and clearest version of wherever you're going to shrink/crop. the smaller the original image, the more it seems to get damaged

the one issue I've found with very high-res images is that they're often so high-res that you have to shrink the sig's quality to like 65% to make it a small enough file, which obviously then ruins the sig's quality. 50kb is a pathetic amount to work with

selectively drop expendable colors from the pallet and find a balance between that and dithering. but you probably already knew that too, so why am I wasting my time
