the crazy thing about doyle is that he never alternate picks. all that fast shit from the misfits was downstroke-only

Quran Ike and Tina Turner. Eh, maybe that's going too far, then we'd be getting white supremacists and wife beaters coming to our shows

That's what gets that lovely buzzsaw sound. Buzz from the Melvins copped that style and then just slowed it right tf down

I see you are a man of taste. Summers and Townshend are two of my faves. Don't know Stewart Squires though, or do you mean John Squire of the Stone Roses?
I do mean john squire, brainfart there due to thinking about the police and stone Rose's together. I actually saw the Rose's twice in 89 and 90 and the Police at Brighton centre in 82 or 83.

Yeah John Squire is pretty incredible, I'd actually say he's underrated as a guitarist, tbh. He was genuinely original, and massively influential to Blur / Pulp / Suede, etc.

Also, luckyyyyy

I can't do it. Same with some of Metallica and Slayer's down-picking palm-muting stuff. Wrist cramps up to **** after like ten seconds, and that's not even at near to their speed

eat the cake anna mae!

I use spotify too, but it has gaps. I wanted to listen to uncle dysfunktional be the Mondays today. Not there. 🙁

I'm listening to Blinded by the Sun, and Squire is absolutely going for it, I love it. Also an example of a band actually using Beatles influence to great effect

Oh for sure, I listen to some stupidly obscure music that I can't find on there. But, to their credit, they also have quite a few bands that I didn't expect them to have, as well as quite a lot of esoteric '60s stuff that's really hard to find otherwise

i gave up on slayer a long time ago, same for post-kill em all metallica. i used to learn bits of this song and that, but whats the point of that.

i can play a mean rythm for jump in the fire. also fast alternate strumming for punk, which is just as fun as it looks

Has anyone ever watched the relentless machine like alternating base picking from Lyndsey Buckingham on Landslide
It's monstrously hard to do the picking and the base tightly, when I was playing a lot in my teens and my hands were smaller, it always fell apart for me lol.

I can do punk. Idk if I mentioned but I was in a punk band, it was a lot of fun, but paying money to travel to gigs that you don't get paid to play, and nobody's there, and you're on when everyone who is there is shitfaced and they're not even listening to you and just moshing to whatever's going, ended up jading me to the whole thing. Fun whilst it lasted tho
