I wouldn't say it's 'crazy messed up', it doesn't go full Akira or anything like that, but it has some very confusing and weird bits. It's very ambient, I think. Full of this deep sense of loneliness and disconnection. The title music is top notch too

I remember reading the Akira manga *after* seeing the movie.

It was weird. Manga made a lot more sense.

I haven't read the manga, I know the film packs in a lot though and that the manga is a lot longer overall

UK won't ever leave lockdown, this is our lives now, and I totally called it that suicide will likely end up being a preferable option compared to how things are heading
