tried changing the settings on the menu?

To run it well you would need these SR's:

3.0 GHz processor,
1 GB RAM,
128 MB DirectX 9.0 graphics card,
Pixel Shader 2.0 support,
DirectX 9.0c-compatible sound card#

Thats for everything at high level

you just said a bunch of stuff that i don't understand

I'm actually not getting CSS for the game itself, I really don't like the look of CS and quite frankly I have no interest in playing it, but I will get it for it's G-mod content and SDK pack.

like hacks?

I know, but it's still sweet! The mystery, the intrigue, the action - it's all so good.

Plus the season finale last week was kickass. Jack Shephard for the win.

Those are your system requirements, if your PC doesn't match that....then you don't have a chance in hell to run L4D at least on good settings.

You can't just pick up a game and expect to play it, you need to find out if your PC can handle it and what sort of hardware your PC is running, PC gaming isn't like console gaming, you can't just stick any sort of game in your CD drive and expect it to work.

Here's a suggestion try altering in game settings so model, pixel and shading texture are on normal or low, try changing the settings, it seems you can't run things at an optimized setting.

There are a lot of settings, I think you just need to change them to something less demanding for your current PC.
