Video card's kinda hard to check. I think you're looking at hard drive space, I mean RAM, like random access memory. Go to the control panel, click system, and it should say on the same screen that has your processor and system name.

Aha, well that could be the problem. One gigabyte really isn't enough to have a functional Vista computer, in my opinion. It would make it perform fairly sluggishly. Although, on the other hand, Microsoft says that a computer with only 512 mb of RAM is Vista ready, I think that you need more than one gig, at least in my experience. But then again, I also do a lot of gaming.
So, bottom line, more RAM=better Vista.

For a desktop computer, you could purchase more at a computer store. However, I don't know for a laptop. You could always check online to see if your laptop model can be upgraded with more RAM, but I suggest living with what you've got, unless you're comfortable with opening up your computer and literally inserting a new RAM chip.
