punk bands put thoughts into their lyrics
and like even in the old days when it started it was about going against that whole like disco and classic rock thing and it was supposed to be direct like you know no bullshitting about it cut to the chase you know but even now its not like Green Day don't put thought to the lyrics or are doing it for the paycheck i mean they didn't stop making music after Warning flopped did they they came back with American Idiot this epic punk rock opera and if they were doing it for the pay cheque they wouldn't of taken 5 years to make 21st CB
It's not an epic punk rock opera. It's a concept album. A shitty one with a very dumb story, at that. As is their other bull shit "Rock opera". They know what it is, they can trick their fans into believe such stupid things. Like they have political prowess or know shit about what's going on. Like I said, they're just writing catchy lyrics pretending to be against the "mainstream". Which they are a large part of. That half assed album took them five years to make? Or did it take a few weeks, and years of "planning"? Aka, staying on the payroll at their record label.

and anyway Green Day clearly started getting into politics on Warning albeit not as much American Idiot but its brave to go into a record and sing about things like that
there was an old magazine interview i read back when Green Day were on Lookout and all the bands at the time sang about politics and Green Day made fun of because they sang lots of love songs and when asked why they don't sing about politics Billie said because he doesn't know much about it and now hes 38 he knows a lot more about it don't he and it not at all preachy i hate people who say its like an album all about politics its not actually only a few songs are about politics other songs about love, drugs, you know like personal things emotions and stuff and just like about being 'lost' you know i mean you can't really say Jesus of Suburbia is the most political song, you can find political undertones there like if you dig for it like but you can in lots of the songs and the songs that are clearly about politics or the state of the nation are you know American Idiot and Holiday
and now its a bad thing to sing about politics? i read an article a while ago that said that punk and politics don't mix? you ****ing retarded? thats basically how it started!

and you say rehashed old riffs well for one thing their last 4 albums where they've apparently 'sold out' even though people have said they aren't punk even since they were an indie band playing middle of nowhere clubs but the fact that they still do what they do and do what they want is punk i mean if they repeated album after album like just making Dookie after Dookie (just like AC/DC do awehawe) there was an interview recently where Billie went on about not wanting to be comfortable, he wants to push boundaries and shit, not his exact words but like pretty much but like i was saying since Nimrod they've totally like gotten better musically and 21st CB is without a doubt they're best album musically i mean they aren't playing 10 minute long solos really really fast which im sure is like an orgasm for you but you don't need to be a genius or the next hendrix or satriani or something to make good music, i mean the beatles weren't like amazing guitar players or nothing they were good but not like WOAH AMAZING you know so its like
