on a completely unrelated note, i wonder why KMC has like 4 female members now and none of us go in the GDF..

I don't know. I wonder why the 4 females go in any forum here. It's a mystery I guess?

No more or less than my answer reapplying your thought process to the actual term.

..Of course you can? You have to address the existing inequality. You can't pretend things are already equal.

You can't fight for just MtF transgender rights under the banner of 'Transgender rights.' It ain't fair to the any of the other transgender people.

I admit I've never even seen a female to male trans.

It's more like saying you can't fight for transgender people's rights without fighting for cis people to be equal.. Like we're trying to get transgender people up to the same level, so we have to address that
another example is it's like saying "black power" is equal to "white power" etc

I understand that mansplaining is a good way to bring attention to the topic. I feel that it hurts the issue in the long run because of its I inherent sexism. These last few pages of discussion wouldn't have happened it if had a term that didn't put one gender on blast.

maybe you have and haven't realised

The main issue I have with the term ''mansplaining'' is that opens the door for it to be used in every situation where a man explains or says something to a woman that she doesn't want to hear. Which will in turn lead to people not taking the actual issue seriously which is like Scribs said earlier, harmful to gender relations. I know that Bardock's point is valid underneath the thick layer of condescension it's been wrapped up in, the term isn't meant to refer to all men so we shouldn't interpret it as such, but in the state it is now, it does actually, very clearly, refer to all men.

Idk I guess I just try to stand up for everyone and try to treat everyone equally but I am just a white cis male, I understand that I can't fully understand the oppression that other people suffer

yeah, I agree, and it's not clear what it means to people who don't look it up etc

Yes, but the harsh truth is women aren't really oppressed, not in America anyways. You need to go to other countries and find true oppression, where women are treated like dogs. Women actually have it great here, especially when compared to certain other countries.

We aren't perfect by any means, but there isn't any real oppression against them here. It doesn't mean there are not issues though, but for example being condescending to someone isn't oppression to me, it's being a dick.

oh I seem to have strolled into the GDF..

What did I say that was wrong? I'm not trying to antagonize anyone.

I think both Trump and Clinton will be bad for the country. They won't destroy it or anything like some people seem to think. I've seen people say there would be a civil war if Trump becomes president lol.

It's like when you get some hand me down clothes from your older brother. They already aren't in good condition, and once you're done with them they will be in even worse condition, but still wearable.
