Because that would take away the reason why Bardock gets out of bed in the morning.

To address the issue is one thing, which is completely fine, if there are a lot of women that actually experience this kind of treatment. I have to admit that I have never witnessed it that much but then I went to a college that had a 70% female student body and a somewhat similar faculty and have worked in 'Dutch' working environments which tend to be more feminine in culture, as the Dutch culture is as a whole. In fact, most condescending treatment I've received in my career, I received from women. In fact, it happened to me today (though this women is of the kind that is condescending to everyone, regardless of gender).

It's another thing entirely though to attribute this behavior to all men, which the term ''mansplaining'' does, but I'm sure you'll have some retort to that among the lines of ''It's good for men to feel the kind of oppression women are presented with on a daily basis in order to better understand the monsters they are''.

Yes, the last sentence is really something I'd say.

I don't like the term "mansplaining", but just calling it "condescension" or "doucheism" doesn't address what it actually is.

It is "men being condescending to women due to presumptions of female inferiority".

the issue isnt "someone is being condescending" though, which a lot of people face, the issue is "someone is being condescending because they think they are more knowledgable than me based on gender"
there could also be a general term as well, yeah srug

Well, that's exactly how it is, no? The general term is "condescension" and the term that the group (women who are condescended to by men because of their gender) uses is "mansplaining".

It really does though. It's a douche explaining things like a douche. Referring to it as a ''man explaining things like a man'' is ridiculous.

How can you tell which is which, unless the person outright says that he thinks your less knowledgeable on a topic based on your gender.

Can we just have a term that doesn't paint an entire gender as those at fault?

I think the term's focus should be on the target really
but idk how that could be a word

You don't understand, we are all at fault. Except for Bardock of course.

That's too vague though. It's a sexist male douche explaining something like a sexist male douche to a woman because she is a woman.

That would be ridiculous. But since that's not the case, I guess we are fine.

Yeah, if it's possible to come at it from that angle it'd be the most effective way of addressing it imo

"Mansplaining" doesn't paint the entire gender at fault. That's just the knee-jerk reaction by some people hearing it. But this knee-jerk reaction is why I agree that it would be more prudent to have a better term.

That's what ''mansplaining'' implies though, deny it all you want. If it actually clearly referred to the situation you're describing, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I mean we could even talk about it without having to create nonsense buzzwords, that'd be cool

obviously it's unclear in some circumstances why someone is being condescending
but when a man speaks to another man one way then to you as if he's "teaching" you about the topic it seems pretty obvious

What's the problem with just referring to it by describing it? Why does there have to be a catchy buzzword?

I think people sometimes see something as sexist when that isn't always the case. When it comes to douches I think they are most of the time just douches to anyone they see as inferior. It's not just females, it can be anyone they see as weak.

I agree. Hence why I think there should be a better term. But it's solely with what people assume the term means from reading it, not the definition of the term or actual usage.

i no has no numbers no mo 🙁

Great minds.
